Thanks Alain, I'll check it out, sounds interesting...
And grmpf - just noticed the hotlist.dll deletes my nicks again. When I first checked they were still there, yet now they are gone. Will copy over the 154 version again. Don't think there was anything changed functionwise, or was it...?

kplugins included in Beta2 are the same that were included in alpha4, if this have problems in Win9x you can continued using kplugins from KM 1.5.4

where are those spellchecker settings again...? (e.g. for disabling those red underlines, if not needed)

Still wondering, are you really sure that it's only due to win9x and not in other systems too? I mean, not all bugs that happen to be reported by me are automatically win9x caused :cool: Has anyone ever tested those hotlist nicks in real use?? It doesn't happen right after startup yet, only after using them. Not sure which action exactly, perhaps by calling a nick, or later by closing the browser...

toolkit.networkmanager.disable => true
If Firefox doesn't find network, it opens offline
Perhaps the problem may occurs under windows ??? Who knows ...
I haven't had time to test K-Meleon 1.60b2

Sourceforge cvs is still down.
Could someone upload 7z of last years or newer
k-Meleon sources to a working host?
update:
online again, for at least two days
Upload of snapshot sources including current
gecko sources would still be nice.
Historic Gecko version 1.7.4 is in K-Meleon CVS.

Do you mean GRE(Gecko Runtime Engine) or XULRunner?
Replacing XUL binaries would not help if K-Meleon
sources don't use certain functions.
Who compiled 1.6b2 XULRunner 1.9.1.17pre binaries?
I don't know where to get that version.
Someone with full sources should run it in
debug mode and set a breakpoint
to "PRBool is_targetable = is_primary ||"
in nsFrameLoader.cpp to see if/when it is called.

desga2's explanation
If the problem is really the xul.dll file the problem should not happen in 1.7a2 because this use xul.dll from Firefox 3.6.13 and this include the strings (hexadecimal viewer search):
c o n t e n t -
content-primary
content-targetable
(also includes in Firefox 3.5.13 xul.dll file)
xul.dll file from Seamonkey 2.0.11 (1.6 Beta2) not include this strings.

desga2 was so kind to elaborate so I could understand Your post about xul.dll a little:
First I thought the content code was missing -> wrong.Quote

Difference Firefox/Seamonkey location of code code for content-primary:
Firefox packed /components/*.dll into /XUL.DLL
Seamonkey has it in /components/gklayout.dll
K-Meleon 1.54 + 1.60b2 are based on Seamonkey
Taken from my other post:
"In Gecko 1.8.1 (Firefox 2) and earlier, the type may be 'content',
'content-primary' or some other 'content-' prefix. In Gecko 1.9 only
type='content-primary' and type='content-targetable' browsers may be
targeted."
K-Meleon 1.54 has chrome 1.8.1 (no problem)
K-Meleon 1.6b2 has chrome 1.9.1 (problem)
The intention of patching firefox was to get a proof
that this code is required to get window.content
in console->viewsource.
HEX-PATCH Firefox XUL.DLL (content-primary|content-offmary)
firefox->
.console->
..viewsource (window.content==null)->
...no line numbers==no highlight of error
firefox->
..view source->
...does not open
Seamonkey Sources with chrome 1.9.1.17pre (KM 1.6b2) are here:
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/seamonkey/nightly/2.0.12-candidates/build1/source/seamonkey-2.0.12.source.tar.bz2
@desga2
my guess is that
"static PRBool AddTreeItemToTreeOwner"
is not executed by K-Meleon sources or fails.
todo:
- did not patch/test seamonkey
- did not compile anything

Sometimes I have build a GRE for updating.
Which meant that I was able to build custom GREs too.
Currently I have problems to build any GREs.
Build stops with
# error C2039...
I googled the problem to.
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=2093063
which points to
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms680345%28v=vs.85%29.aspx
which points to other pages like.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa383745(v=vs.85).aspx
No idea what stops it.
I use only: Mozilla sources and Build environment (usually version 1.3) & Microsoft Platform SDK for Windows Server 2003 R2

Your OS-Version is XPSP3 or older?
Can you post links to GRE and Mozilla sources you used?
I'll try to compile and report.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but under Linux, with Firefox, I have some trouble with offline. Try adding this pref if it's better (it solves my problem under Linux):
toolkit.networkmanager.disable => true
If Firefox doesn't find network, it opens offline

Never heard of that possibility.
The red lines under typos in 1.6 are AFAIK from ./components/spellchk.dll.
You cannot toggle components while the browser is running.
Except maybe by a macro that renames them?
./kplugins/spelltest.dll by mark307 does not work with 1.6.
Result: SpellCheck.kmm menu items do not work.
