I have uploaded to rapidshare two new versions :
K-Meleon1814forCD and
K-Meleon1814forCD-Kiosk .
These are modified 1.x version, based on Mozilla 1.8.1.4 ,
Gecko date 20070511,
that can be burned to CD, to be used from a CD drive,
or from any other drive.
Nothing will be written on a computer, that you use,where you have no
writing rights, and only reading access is allowed.
Unzip the file and burn it on a CD.
Usable in Windows, but also in Linux with the wine emulator.
No history view and no bookmarks saving possible, because of read only functions.
Javascript button for blocking and allowing javascript.
Reload the page after changing.
The menu is in the button Preferences (right click),and in the shortcut
Alt + X (this not in the kiosk version).
To reach an existing bookmarks file on a floppy
or elsewhere, or a start page somewhere on the computer
or the web, enter the path to them in Tools/Hotkeys,
to reach them as a web file using a shortcut
Ctrl + number 1 to 0.
For easy keyboard navigation, use :
Ctrl(right)+arrow left for going back one page.
Ctrl(right)+arrow right for going forward one page.
Ctrl(right)+arrow down for closing a window.
This version uses a no-xul chrome, which makes it fast, but does
not allow xul-based extensions.
The Kiosk versions open fullscreen with a slightly reduced menu.

When in Linux, you have to have mfc71.dll, msvcp71.dll and msvcr71.dll in your
system or in your K-Meleon folder. If you need them, they are still available under
the name dll-installer on the KM 8.2+ website at :

p. s. alle xpcom_core.dll die Importe aus msvcr71.dll statt msvcr.dll tätigen, bewirken unter Windows XP (und vermutlich auch unter anderen Windows Versionen ), dass K-Meleon mindestens ein leeres Profile Verzeichnis ( also auch mit profile.ini) mit Namen "K-Meleon" im Apdata Verzeichnis anlegt. Workaround: man nutze eine passende Datei vom SeaMonkey Projekt; die nutzen Version 6 der Entwicklungsumgebung, die Importe aus msvcr.dll einbindet (Dorian hat 7.1).

Danke für den Tip Guenter. Er legt tatsächlich eine
leere Datei K-Meleon an. Ich weiss nicht, ob der blosse Versuch
einen Absturz mit sich brächte, ich kann es schwer
hier prüfen, da ich meinen Zugang nicht blockieren kann.
Falls das bei anderen so sein sollte, muss ich die
entsprechende Datei nachliefern. Diese legt nichts an.
Was auch noch ist, ist dass zweimaliges Benützen des
gleichen Textfeldes zum Absturz führt. Man kann natürlich
jedes mal einen neuen Prompt öffnen, na ja. Ich weiss noch
kein Mittel dagegen. Aber perfekt kann es ja nicht
gleich jedesmal sein, sonst scheint die Version rasend
schnell zu laufen, und sicherer ist sie auch.

@Fred, da nicht für, gern geschehn & hatte ich schon mehrmals gepostet.
Ist halt manchmal in meiner Muttersprache leichter.

Ja, SeaMonkey/Mozilla legt bei bei der Geschwindigkeit bei jeder GRE Version nach;
& mit 7.1 ist alles jeweils noch etwas schneller ( hat aber die genante xpcom Macke/Bug). Die SeaMonkey Dateiversion hat den Bug nicht, also selektiere ich sie. Kein Nachteil bekannt.

Das Textfeld-Problem hatte ich nicht entdeckt, ad bin ich hilflos.

Additional Note :

It has to be considered, that actions that demand
setting a cookie, cannot be done successfully,
because a cookie can obviously not be set on
a CD, because it is readable only.
Avoid also to use a search box a second time by adding
a keyword to the first one, but open instead a new prompt
for Google or other searchengines, by clicking on
the search icon (globe), and enter the new string of
keywords there. I have not found the reason for
this little bug up to now.

Rapidshare is H311

Works ok for me.
It could be, that you are behind a proxy that is shared with others.
Then Rapidshare will not allow an immediate download, if others
downloaded before.
