There is connection failure when connection to website running SSL on port 80. Can it be fixed? Mozilla does not have such problem

Can you point us to a site we can test this on?

I further investigated and found that when https is specified at URL, K-Meleon will try to connect at port 443. I had to explicitly specify ":80" after the URL. However only text on page could be loaded but not images, most probably because the browser still tried to load images at port 443
I found that Mozilla also had this problem. Sorry for the wrong information provided before. IE does not have such problem
Is it possible to set K-Meleon not to select port 443 automatically for https?
