Quotethomase13my exception is equivalent to *.google.com, the wildcard giving Google and all of its subdomain tentacles full rein to track my every move. Perhaps I only need "plus.google.com" or "apis.google.com", so I will try a few more things. That's where the privbar really shines ;-) By toggling manually only when really needed. Although I have the uneasy feeling

Yeah some website authors use very specific code, in that case a mere name-tag change doesn't help of course. Luckily the big majority of authors just willfully shut out people without any technical reason, just to force them to use another or more bloated browser, so in most cases a fake useragent helps. But look at the (hopefully) bright side: if you use the occasion to also define a ma

i) No, of course not  ii) No prob if you know how. Actually it still works as before, based on gecko prefs, only the interface is gone, because the macro was removed. Copy over the one you used in KM74 (useragents.kmm in macros folder). The slightly harder part is to copy over the list. The ones you created manually should be in your profile in prefs.js If you copied over your profile,

So it was just High Contrast in Windows Accessibility! Hmm.... but you definitely do NOT need Aero for that. Lately I was on a win7 machine at the job and checking out windows themes and clearly remember there were some Accessibility settings too. Either when the screen was locked, then there's a tiny icon with round circles leading to it (or was it vista?), or just right click on the de

LOL! bookmark-phobia? I sure understand if you prefer Favorites in general - I do too. But the great thing about KM is that you can use all 3 systems completely independant from each other! Favorites, bookmarks, hotlist. This allows to use Favorites for general use and that great "nick" feature in bookmarks TOO, to open whole folders (that happens additionally to the current folders, u

Would force-reload help missing icons? As for the cookie-exceptions, it used to be just the URL displayed in the URL bar, unless that was changed meanwhile. The origin url of third-party stuff didn't matter, only the current URL.

Great, that gives hope... Tec, my own online computer has merely 256MB RAM (8MB for video), but running on 98SE it's still usable - mostly... Restarts are a pain, but necessary every few days. What does help performance greatly is a RAM cleaner, there are tons out there, mine is ancient RAM Def XT, great on 98SE. You might need another, no idea. What does help me ENORMously, for per

Thanks, but what I wonder: why a browser for win98 if your system is another? And possibly a misunderstanding: the old KM1.5.4 is NOT always better as 1.6beta, only sometimes. Far more often 1.6 and 1.7 are better on modern websites! Need a german single-word dictionary? dict.leo.org (quite popular, sadly stopped working in 1.6+7 recently, even freezes IIRC, but still fine in 154) pons

QuoteTecJust wondering - Is there supposed to be an edit button somewhere on the posts? As James said, of course - if you're logged in. If you post without being logged in, there's obviously no way to determine who posted something, so no way to edit, otherwise everyone could edit everyone else' posts ;-) But perhaps your prob is still just some setting... your screenshots gav

LOL! Noch einer Somehow KM seems to appeal more to some nations than others, no idea why - almost half the regulars of us here are german currently! Guenter, me, Yogi... And often new users like you as well. But perhaps others don't show up here at all, having their own foreign places, at least it seems the case for russians, with currently rodocop as single supporter. If english is hard o

Into the root folder of KM, usually c:/programs/K-Meleon/ or similar. Macros can alternatively go into the user profile folder, but the above is simpler, especially for unzipping with a ready-made folder structure. Good luck

Since you didn't tell your KM version yet, perhaps you're still on the older version, KM74? (the download page isn't exactly brandnew ;-) If so, then open your current profile folder (Edit>Configuration>Profile Directory) and find the file "prefs.js". Now either make a copy of it or close the browser, otherwise it will overwrite your manual changes again while

QuoteDorianOrder should be: User profile (profile/skins/) Skin in user profile (profile/skins/{skinname}/) Skin in program folder (kmeleon/skins/{skinname}/) Shared in user skin folder (profile/skins/shared) Shared in program skin folder (kmeleon/skins/shared) But what sense does it make to rename the native skin folder to "default", if it has nothing to do anymore with "d

Just as a side note, people who use the privbar or the privacy menu for toggling cookies get only all or nothing anyway. Unless I'm mistaken the third-party setting is only available via the pref sheets, which takes more time as the other 2 ways, so most people probably never use that and never notice this google spy feature. It would be possible to toggle between 3 settings, via menu or

That site is programmed to only work with javascript. Make sure it's not blocked, neither the normal pref nor by cabability policy. If that doesn't help - your monitor doesn't happen to be set to 256 colors? http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/wiki/releasenotes15#problems

Just wondering if perhaps it would be better to have "Favorites" already enabled out of the box? Otherwise they are real hard to discover if one isn't already aware this function exists. But the danger is they assume that's just a copy and perhaps start deleting the "others"... So perhaps add a Confirmation box with info and warning when first enabling them? After fr

QuotejopowerOH... I now see I have a Favorites menu to right of Bookmarks, so my IE faves have a separate menu. ... (All previous browsers import to one menu, so that's what I had expected.) ATTENTION, that's a misunderstanding that could be fatal: the IE "Favorites" are NOT imported into KM, when enabling the Favorites Plugin! Instead they are simply "shared" b

Yes, at least that's how it works on my Vista machine with RC2, although not the latest updates yet. Forgot to mention: Make sure that folder already exists! But as you already wrote before, somehow somewhere must be a reason or setting that some installations like yours and James have probs... A little check, if you manually do a File or Link "Save As" into another folder, af

QuoteZvonkoThe path of the Download Folder in preferences probably is not relative (for portable use ... with other drive letters). Is there a way to have a download Folder allowing portable use? 1) For portable paths you can cheat a bit  Just start the path with the target subfolder inside the KM directory, without any harddisk path given, similar like bookmarks folders are defined. Uah... jason... and overall way above my head, sorry - was assuming it might just be a few simple hardcoded paths! Oops ;-) And am just assuming again that the test alerts did show you the correct path, surprisingly without double \\ despite being used multiple times. But one little thing I remember from my tiny test earlier tonight, no idea if it helps: at the end of the lastDir pref was a clo

How does one of the setmenu lines with the path in ARG look like? Quoterodocopchanging browser.download.lastDir manually affects download saving dialog immediately. What does manually mean here - calling SaveAs command or changing the pref in about:config manually? Edit: Okay, finally got my butt up and fired up the offline machine, testing with the links in readme.html in RC2. And... it

QuoterodocopAFAIK macro itself can change pref only at startup unless you set any additional $OnEvent-trigger. Or it can create menu point to toggle pref manually. If you mean that "in general" for toggling prefs than it's a little misunderstanding. Macros can change prefs directly, no prob, and there's no difference how a pref is changed: be it by macro, by menu or by an e

Just wild guessing... Perhaps the old one "kmeleon.download.lastDir" still works? Or a syntax thing? Does the path look normal in about:config after setting it by macro? Double-slashes etc...

Crazy... Not sure if I understand that right, just pondering a theory: could it be that new KM has probs setting the default mail client itself, if there is no system setting for "mailto" yet? But will recognize and use it, once it was configured by whatever other tool?

Ah sorry, oops, didn't realize you mean Save "AS"! That of course should open the last used folder. Do others have that prob too?

I'm rather sure the browser is NOT meant to drop things into the "last" folder, unless it's picked manually each time. Rather into the fix downloads folder that users can set in the prefs, in "File Handling". If that path is empty the default target is the one you got, guess for other browsers too.

@all: does it work when using a subfolder as default target? Have a very dim memory that Dorian mentioned something about needing a subfolder, but may well remember this wrong or perhaps it was about another subject...

QuoteZvonkoBookmarks.html shows that all new bookmarks are stored not with the http URL, but with 'file:///' following by the path of the profile folder. The funny thing is, just minutes ago I found a similar prob with my own "Favorites" macro Claims "file not found" although all looks fine, then turns out it just can't handle semicolons ";" in the
