QuoteMikkOne question: Did you install perheaps any inofficial SP or other inofficial updates except of the KernellEx on your 98SE any time? Yes sure, here or there over the years, but pity can't remember any details. Actually not that many. But there probably lies the hidden third key to KM1.6+ Your endless scrolling prob I have too occasionally, but very rarely. Must say I also use ja

All ways lead to Rome... And me I'm starting KM from the quickstart bar, a button for each different version, and their targets set for example to C:\K-Meleon1.6.0_BETA26\k-meleon.exe -new etc. The profiles I choose at every start again, just suits me better: Edit > Manage Profiles > Ask at startup

New version for testing in K-Meleon 1.7alpha: (OLD) http://www.file-upload.net/download-8489037/javascriptia_v2.1.kmm.html No new functions in it, just a workaround for newer KM-versions. Old ones should still work too with it, but no need to update. Also works in win98se, provided you got KM1.7 running on it Stupid workaround for KM1.7+: If javascript is disabled in the privacy m

500 single files one by one is murder of course I usually go about it with some interpolation - first exchange some folders at once, if it helps, than try with single folders (plugins, kplugins, chrome, components, macros...), then single files. Or the other way around: copy into S2014 a few parts of beta26. And not to forget, after exchanging components files the 2 dat files inside must be dele

Neverending story.... Glad at least one version works for you now, at last! Whoa, that was tough. The trick with kernelex is, the individual settings are stored by their paths. That means, if a folder is renamed, the setting falls back to default, because Kex looks for the old folder name! Have fallen myself a few times into this trap, but meanwhile know it. Should have insisted harder you ch

Thinking about it... can remember a few postings where actually a 2nd restart was needed to fix something (whatever), silly as it sounds... xpcom, oh I just checked the two dll's in the root folder, when you posted the error message. But find it interesting that kmeleon.exe gives us different errors, no idea why. Perhaps we do have some different system files, from little fixes here a

QuoteMikkQuotesiriais your 26 version still portable, with a profile.ini in the root folder?Yes, but the file is empty (0 k - is it correct? Yes is correct. That means your profile is inside the root folder, in profiles folder. The existence of that file works merely as a switch: profile is inside/outside. If its name were "portable.ini" that would make more sense, but perhaps that

Both James26 and Freds2014 versions seem to work fine on my win98 out of box (except the newer imglib2 in 26 version, which needs to be replaced). Which probably means means some external file is different on our machines - just which?? Both versions I have fresh downloaded in the last 24h. My kernel-ex is version 4.5.120. Both versions show a minor xpcom_core.dll error in dependency walker

Leicht peinlich... Actually I haven't updated yet from 1.6beta2.5 to 2.6 for lack of time and not considering it so urgent, but since you're having such massive problems, thought I'd just unzip 26 and look what happens. If I just start it without copying over anything, only set the compatibility to XP. And oops... out of box it doesn't start on my machine either! But funnily i

Mikk, the core of the problem is you are on win98! The last version that *officially* supports it is KM1.5.4, not any 1.6 variant. 1.6beta still is usable for us with tricks, though not quite 100%. Still it works far better on modern websites than the awfully outdated gecko engine in 1.5.4 In my last post I thought you had already *kernel-ex* installed and the vcredist files, since it was p

Hi Mikk, I'm still on win98se too, but have forgotten nearly everything about little tweaks and fixes :-( Back when the very first beta versions of 1.6 appeared, there was some very detailed thread about 98 bugs, but all my old screenshots are now lost because the image hoster doesnt exist anymore, and some of the mentioned bugs don't exist anymore in the newer betas anyway. Very glad

Uhm, guys, sorry I can't help with anything due to my old system, but please change the thread titles somehow, with alpha-beta-experimental version whatever? There sure is no officially released and stable 1.8.0 yet, far from it, but if some day there will be one, people are mislead to believe it still had all the bugs described here :-/ (PS rodocop, have sent you another mail about ru-menu

Cool, I had no idea there is actually a KM pref for source code line wrapping, and a possibility to open links as source code, thanx naruman! Will add those menu options to my own flavor of macro too and when finally finished publish it, but knowing you guys someone will probably be faster than me snail ;-)

So just like me, you prefer it in a normal tab. But I understand that others may prefer it without toolbars, just to see more code. Meanwhile remembered what I didn't like: The popup window is too small, not maximized, grmpf. Anyone remember how, somewhere sometime, long ago it could open maximized? Is there still a way, or again? And the popup window has no search buttons. Yes the search

+1 Ah, source code... Frankly it's bugging myself too and wished a couple times it would open in a normal tab instead that naked window without any buttons, toolbars, and no menus. Can't quite remember now what for, but had really missed it sometimes. And guess it had somehow worked already as a tab in an older KM version, but not sure anymore. But like rodocop I can't quite u

If you're happy with stylish, that's great, guess it's also the best and most popular macro for this purpose. If you really want to stick a bit longer with KM, just a few basic things you may want to have a look at: F2 > GUI Appearance > display keyboard accelerator in menus (=shortcuts) View > Toolbars > Privacy Bar (=buttons to switch JS, cookies etc.) To hi

QuoteDorianI don't think there will be anyone to remove it :p I don't mind but I would like to keep the number of menu item as low as possible. Thank you, so I added now only 3 tiny characters "FAQ" in the left column, not skins etc, hope it's ok that way (Added in the other language versions too except RU, can't edit cyrillic) (And looks like the forum has a m

Sounds fantastic - who really still held hope for that just some weeks ago?! @Dorian: while you're here, would it be okay to extend the left menu line with FAQ? It's itching in my fingers to add it since years, but would be deleted right away ;-) Perhaps also SKINS, linking to Themes15... Oh, and use the evil forbidden word "addon" at least in the FAQ, where Firefox

Am not familiar with "stylish", but happen to know the color inverter. Actually that "reset" function is nothing else but a simple page reload, no special function! So no matter what was used to change a page style, for resetting click either the normal reload button or hit the normal reload-shortcut F5 (works in some other browsers too btw, quite handy). No idea though wh

Hi rodo, just wondering - perhaps his problem is with portable versions in general, that old prob with write-protected program folder? In that case here it probably still helps to simply delete the empty profile.ini to get another profile location, but in general the traditional KM philosophy of storing everything inside its protected main folder (skin modifications, new macros by default etc.)

The "wise" guy here isn't rodocop but you. Wise and awfully "nice" to be around, congrats to your parents. In fact the official page has not been updated in years and therefore misleads new users today, but rodocop is absolutely right. No K-Meleon user with a bit clue uses stone-age version 1.5.4 anymore. Way too many modern websites don't work with it anymore. Si

Just a suggestion, as minimum info perhaps something like this on the homepage? LATEST NEWS 2013-12-24 After a long break K-Meleon is finally getting developed again. First developer versions of K-Meleon74 based on the FF25 engine look very promising.

Oh... thank you for the welcome And nice to find still a few familiar faces. Pity that I only have time to drop by once in a while, to check for important news. But still excited to see KM progressing fast now, and completely unexpected! Am not ready to give it up anytime soon, regardless if old system or (some day) a newer one, and I believe there are still quite some KM users with old machi

Nerv.

Too good to be true!! :B ...and too bad: no chance on my beloved win98se internet compi Can't even start it, despite KernelEx (which is also half dead developwise and could use a bit new life), the system complains about some missing kernel commands. So am stuck with KM1.6beta26, which mostly runs well enough except two annyoing bugs, some odd css display killer needing restarts, and un

Curious thing, see only black in black too :-/ (KM1.6b2-mod, Win98se Kexed) Seems like a black layer thats covering everything. Killing the css-styles makes the page display readable again, but of course - not styled anymore. Anyway, perhaps better than nothing for now. Am killing the styles with some styles macro, not sure about the name, guess it was on kmext.sf.net somewhere...

deadlock, you're still confusing something there. James and I are no programmers! Just normal users playing with macrolanguage, which was created for that purpose by kko. And we only have a tiny bit beginner knowledge of javascript, so developing more complicated stuff and JS codes is your part (you and other developers, official or not). And in the 1-2 years that I've been here r

KernelEx: Some day I'll get around to update ;-) But will certainly not install it "over". Did once the mistake to first uninstall, then directly afterwards install an update, without a system restart in between - bad idea  Don't quite know what that shortcut prob is about with KM1.7a. Yep I dimly remember there was some discussion... hum... hum.... it starts dawnin

QuotedeadlockMacroLanguage: You can embed JavaScript. It can construct arrays. Great, and while you're at it, you can surely add some little helper macro to main.kmm, which hands over a composed variable name to JS and returns back again the value of that composed variable, since we have no JS experts here. A returned length over 128 characters would be helpful, since the current injec
