That reminds me, had a similar problem recently. It wasn't hotmail, so the reasons are probably different, just to note this somewhere: maps.google.com kept redirecting me too to their mobile version, until I noticed this happens only if javascript is blocked!! Edit: Just tried visiting hotmail.com First the site told me to switch on javascript. Okay. Then it complained I shall also

I'm not surprised that you're hand-coding, but that's exactly my point - they all come to you, because they all aren't doing it that way. Actually I've started trying a special mini-icon for zero-pics, and really, really like that look much better now! Started playing with it when i stumbled across another css trick on the opera pages, and as a surprising side effect

QuotejsnjIronically I discovered this problem today while trying to take an online pole. The vote box didn't exist until your fix. Thanks! LOL, what a timing!! Glad you like it And this "didn't exist" thing is exactly where the problem lies, sigh. Quotedesga2Are you sure that images with width, but without height, works with your current code? Of course I'm sur

Okay, got it sorted out, just unfortunately not the "default" stuff Only my personal preferences for missing-image-display, so that they show in KM16 just like in my macro for KM154. Thanks to that new "broken" class this takes in KM16 merely a few lines of CSS, a hundred times shorter than for KM154!! If anyone wants to try, look here: http://kmeleonbrowser.org/forum/r

Perhaps you haven't noticed yet, but Gecko-Browsers like K-Meleon tend to completely hide missing images from you, IF their dimensions are not given in the page code, so depending on your settings, you may not even get the idea you might be missing an image or anything at all there. This goes for example for all the images posted in this forum, and most other forums too, and normal sites too

No, I'm rather sure it's intentional because it makes sense IMHO It's to find them easier, if they concern several aspects, and there are also a couple menu entries double - e.g. in the page context menu and in the View-menu etc. And since it doesn't matter where a user changes that stuff, there's no harm. It's always changing the same setting in your profile anyw

Grmpf...! Man that stuff is and remains complicated!! Must admit I struggled and tested that image stuff nearly all the time only in KM154, with various css and macros and js and whatever... But obviously a bit too little with KM16 The invisible images showed up there too, thanks to that new gecko class, then I didn't digg any deeper, but somehow those two versions seem to react rather dif

If I look into the source code, there's a script at the very bottom with an "ad" in the name... If that's an ad script that's served by external companies, perhaps try what your scanner says if you delete that external script line? Very well possible that the problem is in the javascript ads, that you have no control about...

Ah right! I was riddling and confused, but now that you write it I remember there was recently some statistics in the newspaper, that really lots of internet users think that a browser were a search engine

Regarding the Loader Wiki, it sounds all surprisingly current , just not sure about that reinstallation thing, anyone know? QuoteIf you do not check the box at that point, you will have to reinstall K-Meleon to enable the loader.

And I'll give it a shot too... 1) First thought: Try starting without the sessions plugin. How? Simply rename sessions.dll into sessions.dll.bak or something ;-) By the way the sessions are stored in prefs.js in profile and could be deleted in there. First make a backup copy of that file. 2) What KM version??? I dimly remember having read such a thing just recently, it's some b

Partly  You haven't tried it yet, or you wouldn't post the 16px in the CSS That is only the size of the "icon" gif, not the size of the "placeholder frame", which always puts a 4px margin on the left and top sides. So it would look half cropped if the frame only gets 16x16 too. I was planning to make screenshots when my other macro is finished, but at the m

Pages load fine for me: KM154 on win98se, true user agent, everything blocked except iamges and CSS. Perhaps it's because I have javascript blocked, and there may be a faulty script? No idea. At the first page I wondered if perhaps it has something to do with the "adult" in the address, perhaps some blocker for adult pages  But the second doesnt contain it, so perhaps som

No desga, trust me here and just test my code ;-) The link is only for testing, not for instructions. The point is that (unlike that page) we do not want to FORCE the placeholder boxes on the users, they must still have free choice whether they want that standards-alt-text-thing OR boxes. And the blue code above only kicks in if a user has switched the default mode to boxes. My only point he

Thanks for the new link, that's really cool, it even shows the countries :-) BUGFIX request for KM1.6 (incl. workaround) Bug: Missing images without height/width-tags vanish completeley, if the browser is set to show "placeholders". For example in most forums, like here too, and those are 'important' pictures IMO, not just some decorations to please the eye.

There's more to a browser than just the engine. That only concerns the stuff inside the page. But from how I understand it, everything you see "around it" - the toolbars, buttons, tab bar, status bar, menus and context menus, the configuration stuff and preferences - all that has nothing to do with the engine, that is the User Interface. There lie the main differences between Firef

To be honest I've kept wondering first, why don't you simply left-click a link?? But okay, that target thing makes sense ;-) Not sure if it was mentioned already, there exists a pref setting to ignore "new targets": Edit > Preferences (F2) > Browsing, the famous "Window Diversion". "Links meant to open a new window" -> open in the c

In the javascript prefs, there's a setting to "disallow scripts to change images". This has caused weird problems before so I just tried, and yes, if that is checked the smilies vanish...

Not a K-Meleon bug, but the webmaster has a faulty browser detection on his site. His code is too stupid to see that this is a gecko browser, although it's in KM's user agent string, but the page works if you tell it you were using Firefox: Tools > User Agent > Firefox

Quotendebordchanging the name of the dictionaries sub-folder to Dictionaries fixed it. Thanks much, I can now forget to use the spell checker and go on to misspell everything as much as I always have! *confused* Hum, okay, I'm lost... ;-) Is it fixed or not, if yes why can you forget it??

Oh... Could give you a few tips, since there IS a path macro in the kmm, but if it's not too urgent Alain can certainly do that better ;-) For now I just meant you could try if it helps to manually rename your "dictionaries" folder into "Dictionaries" (what the macro looks for), OR rename it the other way around inside the kmm. But perhaps it depends from the system, wh

Quotendebordinstalled spellcheck dictionaries in C:\Program Files\K-Meleon\dictionaries. Can't verify if the KMM file actually looks there for the dictionary file. Don't know what you mean by looking to the console? No idea if it matters, but the kmm looks for Dictionaries...

Ah, it's context menus! *click* Oh yes, those are very cool, just love that I can add them myself on any button I wish!! Although I must admit, the number of clicks, well, the energy to click-hold-release doesn't really feel that much different from the usual click-release-click-release menus to me, never noticed ;-) Perhaps because 'holding' takes a bit energy too, and rel

By far most menu lines are created by macros, that is by a kmm-file in the macros folder. Those are text files, so if you're looking for the "creator" of a menu entry, just search for the entry text in your macros folder  Click Edit > Configuration > Macros (and "user-defined macros" if you've also put some in your profile folder) Use your systems fi
