Weird... Checked my various test profile names now: 5 have the same name as default, and 3 have other names! But I cannot manage to create another "same" one now. Even if "Ask at startup" is disabled again (the first thing I always activate in new installs) and the default session active again. And not the slightest idea what suddenly "switched" the new name

QuotestanAt the moment it takes 10 to 15 seconds to type in the url that I want to visit. Without a bookmark, this is what I have to do. Is there any way to save the address instead of having to re-type it each day? Yikes... I don't know if a bookmark-search is possible in urlbar in KM yet, but there are certainly a couple alternative ways to easier access a webpage that is used daily.

Am wondering if those "behaviour" prefs really do work in KM? That is, allow searching not only in history, but also in bookmarks? Now I have some minor testing probs in 74 myself ;-P, but this page: QuoteMozillahttp://kb.mozillazine.org/Changing_autocomplete_behavior_-_Firefox In Firefox 3 and above, when you start typing into the Location Bar, the autocomplete drop-down will s

Oh, yet another... hmm... let me guess, it's just a renamed copy of rvj-editor? Or not? But please, do a little **TEST** before publishing the final version. You guys never seem to test your own stuff! As this thread has shown again and again and again, and I don't get it... While I see already at first look another little menu glitch.... but I leave the discovery to your test, it&

Quoteguenter You IMHO knew why You used pref-filetypes.xul instead of pref.xul in Your macro. So do I. That elegantly avoided the problem, same name, same ID. LOL! Yes I know why, but you're assuming wrong again You still cling to your deep conviction that it must be something "complicated", but really, the name of the link targets don't make any problems (they ARE diff

QuoteguenterBoth items called by the two macros have the name "pref.xul" and the same "ID". IMHO that is the deeper reason. Since Your macro works around this problem As mentioned, my macro doesn't touch those and the editors still work fine (in KM1.6), but since you use more files for KM74, rdf etc., who knows what those do. But why don't you simply rename the

Quoteguenter the reason is IMHO in the XUL code. Both items called by the two macros have the name "pref.xul" and the same "ID". IMHO that is the deeper reason. Since Your macro works around this problem You have found this out too.. No, sorry, can't be. Or do you see anything in my macro code that would modify the name of those xul files or their IDs?? The truth is mu

QuoteJujuLandYou seem to give the good reason, that Dorian has used 1.54 as base instead of 1.60, and the improvments made by desga have been lost ... Uh?? You are writing yourself that a main.kmm that contains desgas modifications SOLVES a problem, which means his main.kmm must be BETTER than the old one - and then you draw the conclusion that this would prove it's a good thing his impro

Much better. Almost matches again mine and guenters cleaned up version on the first page  Except one important point that's still missing. So, since we still can't find an agreement about allowing the native editor too, I finally decided to give in and create a "fork" macro. Did some testing now, just trial-and-error, and to my pleasant surprise found that KM1.6 can

Thanks. That much again for immediately jumping to "system fault" as soon as something doesn't work at first try  Perhaps that pref tab was one of desgas improvements that Dorian had lost when building KM74 based on an older version...? Although it's strange, because the "search" macro uses "OpenURL_Typed" acc. its kmm... Torbetron: if you h

In KM1.6 that is the pref that's changed with the method I posted at 18:44. Does KM74 have that pref tab too? If yes, does it work? Oops, posted at same time, my reply was to James yet.. Alain, that main-kmm thing that you keep mentioning, really doesn't change from "open window" into "open tab". It merely uses a new pref, and then decides if a few certain com

Don't you all jump so quickly now to blame everything on the system if something doesn't work immediately on XP or Linux now. Speaking from experience - 90% of the things that didn't work right away in 98 and people just kept telling "must be your system" turned out after a bit more research to have nothing to do with the system, but really some browser or macro bug. And

Of course the mime-html can't work with your jar, because you keep that file in the chrome parent folder instead of the chrome content pref folder. Move it there and try again? QuoteJujuLandok, but if someone wants to change this behavior, he must change the macro, else just a pref, which can be done if Dorian accept to reintroduce it, with a included macro or in kmprefs. The way your m

And then Dorian dropped them again because he r

You can remove me from the history, since it doesn't contain any contributions by me. And even if there were a line, that would be peanuts not worth mentioning considering it would be 0.0x % of that whole extension. What I still keep riddling, what's your "modified version of main.kmm" thing about? Some trick requiring frames? (sorry am lazy too and too bothersome to get

QuoteguenterQuotesiriaPerhaps some path mistake in this mime-extension itself? 2.) Impossible. That is an anciant part of the Mozilla/SeaMoney suite XUL code. .... Those complicated addon-extension paths are a complete mystery to me yet, so I had just kept the original paths you guys have posted. Now came across this (VERY long) page about the structure of FF addons. It contains also a chrome chapter, but no mention that chrome-paths wouldn't work under Linux. Perhaps some path mistake in this mime-extension itself? https://developer.mozilla.org

Just came across this comprehensive description of the various profile paths in different systems. No idea if that's of any use here, but just in case: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox One interesting thing is that the FF profiles parent folder is hidden by default. Or a much shorter version: www.askvg.com/list-of-files-that-can-be-hacked-to-configure-firefox

About this complicated addon-extension path stuff I have no experience myself. Had just kept the original paths in your and jujulands macro. But great if those shorter and direct links work too Just one little syntax error: $OpenURL="chrome://rvjmimeedit/content/mimeType.html"; &OpenURL_InNewWindow;&OpenURL_InNew; And the header now sounds like it wouldn't need an

Yet a better example is yahoo.com. Or the news site: http://de.nachrichten.yahoo.com When blocking document colors ALL images vanish?! (or is that somehow another user setting of mine?? So much has accumulated over time...) And when searching text inside a page and highlighting all hits (Ctrl+F), then the highlight-colors vanish too. Funnily, I have an extra glaring style for them via a

addons.mozilla.org is a nice test page. When only setting "browser.display.background_color" that has zero effect. Page remains white. When also blocking "browser.display.use_document_colors" the colors change, but the starlet-icons vanish too. Not quite sure why, but probably are covered by a forced background-color on all elements. With my css-snippet above only the

Hm, but when I play a youtube video, it only starts *loading* when I click the arrow. Before not, or the red progress line would be much further already. Wondering, perhaps it has to do with the Link-prefetching pref?? But no idea. (in KM16 in F2 > Privacy > Paranoia) I also keep the pref for embedded objects blocked during normal surfing.

I've struggled endlessly with that recently! But found no way other than a user style css, and it has a lot of drawbacks. For specific sites specific solutions can be found, but a global style that works acceptable on ALL sites? No chance. The main prob is, forcing a background-color will hide many images! Not just real -unimportant- "background" images, but also important one
