K-Meleon
Extensions can add new capabilities to K-Meleon. There are several types of extensions for K-Meleon that each gives deep access to the browser:
Current Firefox extensions are not compatible with K-Meleon. Mozilla no longer supports XUL-based add-ons. They now use the more limited WebExtensions API for current Firefox extensions. Legacy Firefox extensions (and some extensions for Pale Moon) can run in K-Meleon, but often need to be modified or updated.
K-Meleon-specific extensions can be installed with the K-Meleon Extensions Manager or by manually extracting the files. The most common type of extension for K-Meleon is the macro. Macros are small extensions. They come in simple text files that can be opened and read by any user.
Extensions are separate from third-party plugins and native Kplugins. K-Meleon can use third-party plugins to handle content that the browser can't natively render. Kplugins are written specifically for K-Meleon, and native Kplugins power many of K-Meleon's features.
Third-party authors provide extensions for K-Meleon. Be aware that poorly written extensions can cause stability and security issues. Use at your own risk.
