I have uploaded to quicksharing.com a new version, that is suitable
to use in Linux with the Wine emulator.
K-Meleon-Linux-usable-1.8.1 is a simplified version of K-Meleon 1.x ,
updated to Mozilla 1.8.1.7 using Gecko/20061022.
Look and feel are similar to the earlier 0.9 versions.

Note :
This version works only if you have the files mfc71.dll, msvcp71.dll
and msvcr71.dll in your system or in your K-Meleon folder.
If you need them, they are still available under the name
dll-installer on the KM 8.2 website at :

This will install the files on your system .
If necessary in Linux, copy the files manually to the K-Meleon main folder.
A javascript button has been included. After changing permissions for javascript, reload the page.
If an error message should appear at the second startup, click the button again and remove later the hook for "always ask"in Edit/ManageProfiles.
History must be deleted manually.

When used in Linux with Wine:

It's preferable to use "windows only" mode without layers for better stability.
It is not advisable to use groups of more than 3 or 4 websites, better use no groups at all to avoid browser failures.
A minor flaw, that has not been fixed yet, is that the URL bar sometimes
won't change to show the actual URL after clicking links.
If fonts should not work in wine, copy fonts from your windows installation
to the " .wine " configurations folder, to the subfolder "fonts" and restart the browser.
Certain instabilities should be tolerated when K-Meleon is used in Linux.

Sorry, Fred, but I have not studied in the NASA, so perhaps I am not capable to install properly these linux KM version, nor to configurate it correctly...

This version is dedicated to people who already use Linux,
and used K-Meleon in Windows before, and want to go on using
K-Meleon there. The new 1.x K-Meleons can have problems in
Linux with Wine, so I made a simpler version in the 0.9 style,
but with the updated security of the new browser versions.
But of course this version is also working in Windows, although
it is especially made for Linux/Wine. So if you think that
Linux is too difficult for you, you can also use it in Windows.

I can't download this ZIP file with FF2 and IE6. Not Save as dialog is showed. Not windows popup is blocked. How could i download it?

I have tried to download it six thousand times until I send it to the...

To see the download link in Quicksharing, javascript must be on
and adblocking by stylesheet or otherwise must be off.
When downloading with K-Meleon 1.0.2, go in the menu to
Edit-->Advanced Preferences-->Page Display-->Content Filters
and take the hook away at CSS-Adblocking. Press then OK.
The download link should then be visible, on a page with
text adverts.
To make it easier, I have uploaded additionally to Rapidshare.
They have become unreliable lately, because they deleted the
download file sometimes after only a few days. Let's see
how long they keep it this time.
