nice work, gorilla no baka! it's certainly a lot lighter. of course, i noticed a few problems, at least on my machine, but they're mostly related to the features that i want (e.g., cookie management). QuoteGorilla no bakaYup..learned'em long time ago back in the neowin and bold fortune's forum..Tweaking slimming modifing..Compared with windows K-meleon is a charm.. are you

gorilla no baka, did you just delete the files or did you also recompile k-meleon afterward? if the latter, did you notice a significant improvement in terms of speed, resource usage, etc.?

i had the same problem with k-meleonccf me 0.09 final. it took me a while to realize that it was being caused by the macros not loading properly (some autoload problem). i resolved it by extracting it to a different location (program files instead of the desktop).

are there certain functions you're looking to retain? in my case, e.g., i'm looking to keep bookmarks, cookie management (so i can block and whitelist), macros, etc. also, are you planning on building on chrmlite.dll or tweaking chrome at all?

interesting idea. i have a different approach to profiles. first, i load k-meleon and make the desired changes. then i copy the tweaks i want from the prefs.js file in the profile directory to the prefs.js file in the defaults directory. now, whenever i need a new profile, i just delete the whole profile directory and launch k-meleon. all my customizations are copied over--no more tweaking!

i've been trying to slim down k-meleon as well. so far, i've removed unused plugins, macros, etc., and after upx-ing it, i've gotten the whole package down to 10.8mb. there are a lot of functions that i don't need, and it'd be nice to excise them completely, which is why i find your project really interesting. i'd love to help you test the builds.

i didn't see any attachment function on this site, so i've uploaded it here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=AIR6QHA9 let me know if there are any problems with it. it works on my xp sp3 system.

QuoteHao Jiang1. Not sure where the source of the problem comes from, I 'll take a look. thanks for checking. for some reason, the buttons appear all black on my machine (even after changing the colors for my visual style). Quote2. Privacy options -> Clear address bar history this didn't work. here's what i did: 1. with a new profile, load k-meleon. 2. go to google.com.

i just tested the dll with k-meleonccf me 0.09 final and i get the following error: --------------------------- Kmeleon --------------------------- Could not initialize XPCOM. Perhaps the GRE is not installed or could not be found? --------------------------- OK --------------------------- i'm guessing the dll included with the ccf version is quite different from the standard

i just tried this latest version, but i'm running into some problems. 1. how do i change the styles applied to buttons on webpages? i've added: /* Buttons */ input, input, input, button, select { color: ButtonText; background-color: #ffffff; color: #000000; border: 1px solid; border-color: #000000; } to my usercontent.css file, but it doesn't do any

it works! i'm using xp pro sp3 and k-meleon 1.5.2rc2. no more empty folder. i couldn't believe it, so i tested it several times. nice work.

it's also used for cookie management (e.g., creating cookie exceptions), if i recall correctly.

thanks for that, desga2! the folders aren't that bothersome, but i appreciate the work and i'll check it out. another strategy might be to change the permissions on the application data folder to prevent the folders and files from being created. but i'm not sure if this is possible.

interesting. i upgraded to 1.5.2rc2 just to try it out, and i haven't had any pages stop loading on me. but i did notice that sometimes pages take an extremely long time to load, and this seems to coincide with the loading of pages that use flash (e.g., comedy central). it could be that flash is causing all the problems.

i can confirm that even pocket k-meleon creates an empty folder. Quotedesga2I cann't found the mentionated post. Yes you can download Flash Player archives but i only remember was a 9 version. But I found this that I hope can help you: Settings Manager for Flash Player. thanks, desga2. i tried that settings manager, but the folders are still created. it would be great if k-meleon could

i've tried a number of versions (8, 9.0.16.0, 9.0.47.0, 9.0.124.0, etc., extracted from the archives from the adobe site), but none of them work. also, i searched, but i couldn't find anything about which flash version to use. where can i get a good version of the file?

Quotedisrupted(unlogged)i was joshing about p0rn. it's hard to tell on the internet. Quoteis it portable kmeleon.. i mean running from usb etc? also check how cache is managed in preferences.. see if it caches on disk and on memory. default settings for cache: cache in memory: max 4mb cache on disk; max 32 mb still not good.. then try to create temp default profile and see if it works

thank you, gvgerman, for confirming the issue. it seems that, either way, an empty folder is created. another obstacle to making k-meleon fully portable is that flash-related folders are created in the application data folder. on my machine, i have two: adobe and macromedia. they seem to be cache folders. is it possible to prevent them from being created?

Quotedesga2More info please: K-Meleon version, windows version, type of conection, K-Meleon Extensions installed, firewall, proxy, ... k-meleon 1.5.1, windows xp sp3, cable internet (wireless connection), no extensions installed, no firewall (unless you count my linksys wrt54g router with dd-wrt firmware as one), and no proxy. the internet connection is fine, since pages load in other browsers

every so often, pages refuse to load. e.g., when i try to refresh a page, it just stays blank and the tab says 'loading...'. it's not the internet connection, since other browsers work and k-meleon works after restarting. i don't think it has anything to do with the user.js page loading tweaks, either, since i get the problem even when i don't use them. any ideas wh

is there a way to remove the ads that appear to the right of emails in gmail? i'm guessing i need to edit the adblock.css file, but i'm not sure where to start. also, i know about adblock plus, but it caused some slowdowns, so i'm trying not to use it for now. thanks!

i've tried several versions of the file (firefox portable, seamonkey, the old pocket k-meleon), but all create either an empty k-meleon folder or a mozilla folder. any ideas?

sorry, i should have been clearer. i actually like everything all white like this. i just want the active tab to be distinguished somehow, e.g., by adding asterisks, by making the text bold, etc. also, is there a way to make the tab flat and not pressed? edit: desga2, i just saw in the other thread that you said that the option to mark the active layer, which was in previous versions of k-m

thank you for the reply. my problem is that i can't distinguish easily the active tab from the inactive tabs (on my machine, they are all white). i just remembered how i did it before: i was able to add asterisks to the text on the active tab. but i've forgotten how to do this. do you know?

i know this thread doesn't really belong here, but i couldn't think of any community that might be more knowledgeable. do any of you know of an imap email client that is as light and responsive as k-meleon? all the ones i've tried (e.g., emailaya, iscribe, sylpheed, etc.) suffer from instability or connectivity issues. in terms of overall quality, thunderbird has been the best.
