Or yet another way, after making a BACKUP of prefs.js: open page "about:config" (Edit>Configuration>Browser Configuration) It's an endless list of prefs, the "thin" ones are default, the "bold" ones are user-set. Not all but many react instantly when toggling. If type is Bool with a doubleclick, the others by right-click. Actually the big majority o

Great, already a step forward! Okay, the usual suspects are UA, Cookies, Javascript and Referer (http+https). Perhaps just referer? Check F2>Privacy>Paranoia Or other settings in the privacy department or Tools>Privacy Or an adblocker... there's a new one contained now! JamesD made a macro that creates a menu for its settings, something with "control" in the name...

Probably just some setting. A different default setting, perhaps Frames, but no idea, or some user setting. And that "compatibility" setting means just a fake suffix to the useragent, unless I'm mistaken, and doesn't change anything inside KM itself? Perhaps you could compare your actual UAs on some browsertest site?

QuotefoliatorIn KM I don't use the bookmarks bar anyway, because I need to leave the status bar visible to see the URL when I hover over a link. This uses up the vertical space I'd normally give to the bookmarks bar. FF has no status bar, but still shows the URL at the bottom when hovering over a link. With a macro link targets can also be shown in a tooltip, not at page bottom but di

Just a little macro from a bookmarklet, with thanks to author subsimple and his great site! http://subsimple.com/bookmarklets/collection_links.php When you hover the mouse over a link, the statusbar usually shows the link target. If the statusbar is switched off, for example to save screen space, this macro helps to see the link target in a tooltip, directly at the link itself. If it's a

Quite simple in KM Edit > Configuration > Menus opens the file for user modifications, but in this case it's probably easier to just do it inside the global file, in /settings/menus.cfg Find the menu entries you want to remove and just add a comment sign # at the lines. But make a backup copy first! Most of KM's menu entries are there, only a couple others are added by kmm-

Still suspect it may have to do with mousegestures, especially since Left-Drag? And recently stumbled upon a posting some weeks ago where some bug with the scrollbar in combination with gestures was reported, but not sure if remember that right. Anyway, does it also happen if you disable gestures?

All kudos to Dorian Love KM too, since many years, but always interesting to read how it compares and looks from the 'outside'. A viewpoint that I'm completely missing myself, due to old machine and frankly neither time nor much interest in such struggles myself. So, rather clueless in that regard. Great news, thanks for reporting!

Since about 6-8 weeks am working really hard on my tablistia macro, will go crazy if that thing won't be finished SOON, argh!!! The prob were the huge chunks of javascript that it needs, and some html-coding and css-coding, and of all 3 have only tiny bits tourist knowledge. But works now, the remaining stuff is just adding more gimmicks and improve user interface. Although it's not

Seems there are actually FF-users out there who do collect their bookmarks not in bookmarks, but exclusively in the current session, especially in the FF tab "groups" (whatever that is exactly, but sure must be empty tabs considering the mass). Up to 700 - was absolutely SHOCKED when coming across this postings!! Or another guy had hoarded some 150 for years... Came across this pheno

Aargh... slamming forehead... of course!! Should have thought of that, knowing that effect full well from the old sessions system! Have no practical experience with the new one, but IF it works similar, it goes like this: Session pages are only stored at the $OnLoad event, NOT when closing a page! Old known 'bug': if you close some tabs, then close browser *without* loading any new

Quoterodocop Your profile should contain session.json.bak file - if not now it could be useful the next time you'll get into this trap Just replace (not starting KM till you make these steps) session.json with that bak-file renaming the latter. Very cool!! Now wondering how it may work? When is it created (startup? Exit? Crash?) and changed... And yes, PriorTabs may well help for

Great But you could have that easier, by using the normal way to change a skin: Quotesiria...hit F2 and change skin in first tab "GUI configuration Appearance", then start again. Was assuming that you already know where to find the normal skin setting (Edit > Preferences (F2) > GUI Appearance), because you had already changed a skin. IN general most simple user settings

Uh oh, am afraid that was it then... Sh*t happens Oops, was wrong - there IS hope, see rodocops post below! ------ What I would recommend is to use the pref to force ALL links to open as tabs, regardless if they want a "window" or tab (F2>Browsing>Window Diversion)

What a fitting name - "in the dark" Anyway, this skin obviously is meant for old KM-versions. And additionally it is a very special skin system if it comes with an "exe" file. Very unusual. Sure meant for easier user config, but in wrong KM-version obviously problematic. Okay, have no idea what the exe executes exactly, but you can extract the exe with 7z and loo

QuoteDorian IconCache is not used anymore and will be deleted in future version. Did you change the history settings? Pref Sheets need update: in current K-Meleon 76beta3 the setting is still there (F2>Cache), explicitely telling "will be stored in iconcache.dat"

QuoteJamesDI had hope that this CSS stuff would help, but all that I could tell was that history no longer worked. Yikes - history?! :O Is that some bug, or possible why Slickone can't write history? Which version affected? What exactly doesn't work?

The prob for macros is that they can only start any action AFTER a page has already fully loaded ($OnLoad event), not at the beginning of loading. Again and again, am running against a wall with many macro wishes due to that prob. So from my (limited) point of view that wouldn't help you much. One of the main job of macros is pref toggling, yes - but again, this must be started at some &quo

(guess it's also in the Tools>Privacy menu, or right-click a PrivBar button) Have you tried if your history starts working again after renaming/deleting the old places.sqlite? Or would it work in a new (additional) profile? (Edit>Manage Profiles>Ask at startup)

An editor with syntax highlighting (Scite, Notepad++, etc.) reveals the mystery automatically: There are lots more opening brackets than closing ones. Between stop and go must be 4. (Unless there's more reasons, haven't tested) This is the same, just easier to read: function KMListBoxLang($__code) { $_KMListBox_Macro_Path=getfolder(UserMacroFolder)."\\KMListBox" ;

QuoterobertIs there other solution than delet kmeleon and download it again? 1st thing to check is Tools >Error console, and switch on KMM-errors too If doesn't help, I'd try if a new profile helps (F2>Manage Profiles: "Ask at startup" / restart / click NEW profile) But your menu prob sure is easier, just check the plugin settings...

Great! Always nice if something works so well KM also has a pref setting to work only offline, you probably know, but just in case: "kmeleon.general.offline" Also just in case only, the Mozilla engine seems to have various ways to lock some prefs, but personally not familiar with it (example https://support.mozilla.org/de/questions/1063418)

There are various ways to manipulate single entries, but since you want to restrict everything as much as any possible: go straight to the source of all  ...browser/defaults/settings/ in menus.cfg most menu entries are created, except very few by macros and plugins. The menus are structured modular, with parent menus and submenus inside them (groups which either pop up with an arrow, or

Solution 1: Use KM76 beta3 It is also better for webapp kiosk mode (whatever that is :cool ==> http://kmeleonbrowser.org/forum/read.php?8,136880 Solution 2: Or KM1.5.4, or KM1.6beta26  Solution 3: Or a macro, but not sure if you allow macros in that 'minimalist' version?
