QuoteSlickone ^^ Thanks a lot, foliator. You're welcome! Quote...the startupCache and Cache folders didn't get recreated after running KM, which is good I guess. If you mean the main Cache folder, that's surprising, especially if you still have disk caching enabled. The browser is bound to look for a place to store the cache files.

Quotesiria Interesting solution, with bat file I used what's known as the "brute force method". QuoteAnother thought, but needs testing: what happens if you set the empty folders write-protected, before KM start? If they get reset and still filled, next try: delete them and create a file with their name, setting those files write-protected? Well, folders can be filled whe

QuoteSlickone So I can safely delete the Cache, cache2, and OfflineCache folders? Anyone up to building a macro to delete the cache2/entries files? I'm not sure that you can delete them while KM is running, and it would have to be running for the macro to work. Instead the folders and files should be removed after you exit KM, but the process can be automated, as I've done in the

QuoteSlickone Why does clearing disc cache in F2 not clear the files in cache2\entries? My guess is that the browser's cache clearing feature is still unaware of the changes to the new cache system, which uses cache2 if it's enabled by the user. QuoteCan I delete these? How do I prevent so many in the future? They go back to November. Not a big deal, but can any of the many thou

Regarding the cache2 folder, I just found this blog discussion, which may shed some light on that folder's function: http://www.janbambas.cz/mozilla-firefox-new-http-cache-is-live It doesn't apply to me, however, or anyone else who has disabled disk caching.

Quotesiria Now from the description with the 0-F folders that must be the hexadecimal system, similar as used for color names (#AABBCC), with 16 characters 0-F. It's like having a single folder for A-Z, with each containing A-Z subfolders again, and each of those containing their own A-Z subfolders again, only with an alphabet of 16 instead of 26 characters. All in all as many folders as col

Quoterodocop These are engine-related cache folders. Mozilla preconfigures place for cache files as well as for history (file places.sqlite). You can avoid them if you have broadband connection - just switch disk cache off and then delete cache folders in file manager (not from KM itself). That's what I've been doing, but the Cache2 folder gets recreated on startup. It always stays

Quoteanontemp123 I was helping a friend and had a situation similar to this. Spent all day, couldn't figure it out, swapping video cards, etc. I was just sitting there, frustrated, started playing with the monitor controls for no reason. Turns out someone had set the contrast all the way up. Sometimes people investigating businesses set traps like these on purpose to see how honest the

So true, rodocop! Honestly, I often think most of the skills that matter to me were self-taught. Very little of my formal education, even in university, has proven that helpful. As they say, "experience is the best teacher." There's an old story about a guy who was out looking for work, but got rejected by one company after the other because he was "over-qualified". On

I'm trying that now -- yes, I guess KM does retain the text on this forum, although definitely not on some others I've used in the past, and in some corporate feedback forms, as well. But "gelernt ist gelernt", or as my mother was fond of saying, "Live and learn!" It doesn't work here, however, if the tab is closed accidentally and restored with Ctrl Alt Z (

Quotesiria LOL! Was that a prank or something? Anyway, for solving THIS it almost does take a genius I'm not sure if it was intentional. Probably one of the kids started playing around with his mother's computer without her knowledge and without a clue about how to use it. That's what happens when you leave a kid home alone. The other thing I did when I was there was insta

Quoterodocop ... there is a number of alternatives and other useful extensions for Windows Explorer Well, I seldom use Windows Explorer now for file management. Instead I'm using XYplorer (the freeware version), which lets me hide all those junctions and virtual folders or whatever and see only what I want to see. It also offers folder favorites for fast access. A few other applications (W

Ctrl Z will only help if you catch the mistake before hitting the submit button. I've made mistakes like that too, which is why I now write all my e-mails in a mail client on my hard drive, rather than on a webmail site. My ISP has a webmail service, and I have a Gmail account as well, but both services allow me to send and receive mail with a mail client. Does Yahoo still allow that? I used

QuoteJamesD Since I created C:\KM_PGMS, I have complete authority there. That admin/security thing is an annoyance even in Windows 7. Actually, I've never been thrilled with the multi-user aspects of Windows, either, like having to log in, etc. It annoyed me even in Windows 98, the first multi-user version I used. I'm the only user of this computer; there are no other profiles besides

Changes like that make me hesitate to upgrade my software. As for browsers, I intend to stick with KM as long as I can. So far every website I visit functions just fine in KM75, which is based on Gecko 31. I understand 76 beta uses Gecko 38. If it ever got as far as 44, there could be some problems. Internet Explorer 9, which I stopped using back when I discovered KM, was the newest version of

Quoteanontemp123 Things are starting to make sense slowly.* Even the difference between plug-in and macro was confusing to me at first. Very interesting to see so much core functionality is itself actually implemented with macros. The difference between plugins and extensions in Firefox can be just as confusing. Generally a plugin is in the form of a DLL file, whereas FF extensions are XPIs,

Quoteanontemp123 So there are mystique 'internal macros' then? I've always considered the contents of "main.kmm" to be a kind of internal macro, since it's included in the original distribution package and seems to handle a lot of things not covered by the other macros. In looking at its contents, I think it coordinates various functions of the other macros. For

@siria: Thanks for the info on building menus. I've already added quite a few personalized things to the context menu section of menu.cfg, where it starts with # ----- Documents DocumentPopup{ These will show up when right-clicking the body of any page, but of course not if I'm pointing at a specific element, such as a URL or an image. For instance, :Compact Menu :&Boo

Quoteanontemp123 Is there a way to list all keyboard shortcuts? Those that K-Meleon has defined and those that are custom-defined? Primarily I'm concerned with redefining a shortcut combination that already exists. Well, you could look at the default accel.cfg here: K-Meleon\browser\defaults\settings\accel.cfg You could copy and paste its contents to a separate text file for quick

The easiest way, at least for me, is to assign a shortcut key to the macro by editing accel.cfg in my profile. Example: ALT VK_SPACE = macros(ToggleJC) That macro toggles both JavaScript and Cookies, then reloads the page. The VK_ prefix is for a virtual (non-alphanumeric) key. Alphanumeric keys are simpler and can be written like this: ALT J = macros(ToggleJS) ALT C = macros(ToggleC

I know what you mean by programming addiction; I got so wrapped up in it one day that I forgot about the time and was late getting to work. My first experience with computers was on a TRS-80, which used a cassette tape recorder for storing programs and a black and white TV as a monitor. Then I got a pocket computer, then a Model 100. All of these were by Radio Shack, and none of them had more

Quotesiria ("sub" translates to: replace in the commandline found in the registry the placeholder %1 with the given file) Easy enough to remember: "sub" = "substitute". Anyway, I can see the logic in those macros, having recognized the definition of variables from my early experiments with BASIC. The last BASIC program I wrote was in 1993, when running DOS on a

Quoteguenter Can You post the full solution? Here it is, with only my user name masked: MemPad{ exec("\"C:/Users/(username)/Documents/Apps/Mempad.exe\" \"C:/Users/(username)/Documents/Personal/Organizer.pad\""); } I formatted that as code, otherwise text wrapping would have obscured a space in the command. That long line extends beyond the table here, and in f

What gave me the idea for forward slashes was their use in URLs, at least in Mozilla-based browsers. As far as I know, only Internet Explorer recognizes backslashes in URLs. That's not surprising, since IE is integrated with Windows, but it's also not standard practice in browsers. I guess the use of forward slashes is actually a Unix thing. PS: Just to clarify what I've done, I

Ha! Thanks, siria, now I know why my backslashes didn't work. At any rate, the forward slashes did, as you'll now see in my previous message. Next I'll try and pass a parameter to MemPad the way you've pointed out. Maybe that will solve the problem; I'm crossing my fingers! Hmmm ... kind of hard to type with my fingers crossed.

I'm trying to create a macro that will open one of my desktop apps from within KM. I've tried the exec command, but so far, the only command line that works is exec("explorer.exe"); Other EXEs don't open, even if I provide the exact path for them. What's especially important here, however, is that I need to launch the shortcut to the app, not the executable itself

How are you saving the file? Are you just hitting Ctrl S or using Save Page As from the File menu? If so, you're saving not the image, but the HTML page on which the image appears. Instead, try right-clicking the image and using Save Image As. Another way, from the same right-click menu, is to use View Image, so that you see the image itself separately from the web page. Then you can use

Quotesiria QuotefoliatorI only tried YesScript in version 43. Up until a few months ago I still had version 15.0.1; it ran OK Having just today struggled with FF-addon stuff, have now took a look into its install.rdf, and it says Max Version for FF is 40. There's a chance it may work when editing it with a higher number. "Struggle" is definitely the right term for working with
