I'm going to bypass the technical side of this issue for a moment (because it's a bit over my head, too) and tell the original poster the workaround that I've just tried: 1) In the view menu, bring up Toolbars and unlock them. 2) In that same submenu, enable the bookmarks bar and you'll see an icon at the left of that bar that works like you described: Left-clicking it s

Just another little gimmicky accelerator I've added to accel.cfg with respect to that main menu: ALT M = rebarmenu(Compact Menu) What that does is pop up the same cascaded main menu I described earlier, although it will appear on the screen wherever the mouse cursor is. I suppose the same thing could be accomplished by adding the compact menu to the right-click context menu, althoug

I can't come up with exact figures, but for what it's worth, KM loads pages dramatically faster than IE9 on my Windows 7 netbook, which has only 1 GB of RAM. It also starts up and loads pages faster than the last version of Firefox I used: 15.0.1. My friend has a laptop with 2 GB of RAM and a dual-core processor, also running Win7. IE9 was crashing frequently on his system, until I inst

Quotesiria I see you're quite skilled already I'm an inveterate tweaker, and tend to do things like this to all the apps I install. My text editor, AkelPad, no longer looks anything like what came out of the box. That's why I eventually switched to Firefox for its flexibility after my frustration with IE. K-Meleon seems every bit as customizable as FF, but without having to use

That worked, siria; thanks for a perfect solution! I left the original line in the file, but have commented it out. I had already tried looking in Flashblock.kmm, so I guess I was close, just not close enough. Regarding the other suggestion, here's what I've just done: I've added &Privacy to the main menu, so bringing up that list is quicker than going through Tools

Those accelerators appear on the zoom buttons by default on my copy of version 74. Alternatively, the original poster could create custom accelerators for text zoom by editing accel.cfg in his profile. The commands to use for text zoom are listed in the quick reference guide shipped with K-Meleon: ID_FONT_INCREASE I've assigned Alt = (same as Alt + on my machine). ID_FONT_DECREASE I

I use some custom accelerators for changing privacy settings on the fly, such as Alt J for enable/disable Javascript. Whenever I use them, I always glance at the status bar to make sure I'm not toggling to the reverse of what I want. All works well, except for Flashblock, which tells me "Flashblock is enabled" or "Flashblock is disabled". This is confusing, because what I

Just an update to this issue: To work around the problem, I had to modify my e-mail client's configuration file by manually specifying K-Meleon as my default browser; it usually detects the default browser automatically, but was bringing up the error dialog whenever I followed a hyperlink in a message. Now it doesn't, so I decided to try that with my word processor, Jarte, where it was

QuoteDorian Did you use the installer? If so, try setting kmeleon as default, using windows control panel. No, I installed K-Meleon manually from the portable package. The only option I can find in the control panel is "default programs", which already shows KM as the default browser. Could my choice of application folder make a difference? I always keep my portable apps away from C:\Pr

QuoteJohnHell Check that in the registry the %1 is between quotes: "%1". Also the path to K-meleon. Thanks, but they check out OK. K-Meleon automatically used the correct path in its registry key. It also put the required quotes around the parameter. There are actually very few apps that don't require those quotes (Notepad is one exception). In the absence of quotes an app will typ

QuoteJamesD You can try Help > Troubleshooting > Check Program Defaults. That was actually the first thing I checked. URL files, HTML files and all other items usually handled by IE, including HTTP protocol, FTP, etc. showed up as K-Meleon defaults, which was just as I expected, so I figured the problem might be K-Meleon's interpretation of the parameter being passed to it. I'm running K-Meleon version 74 on a Windows 7 netbook. Everything is just great, except for a possible bug, which, although not critical, has me puzzled: I've set the default browser to K-Meleon through the preferences dialog, and confirmed the success of that by looking through the registry. However, if I follow a hyperlink in a local document, in a word processor, for instance, I

Quotesiria Just a tiny chance, but have you tested the settings in F2>Plugins>Fullscreen, if it helps anything to either HIDE the taskbar or NOT in that mode? Yes, and believe it or not, unhiding the the status bar in that menu sometimes results in the opposite. Right now I have it unhidden, but there's no status bar showing in fullscreen, and voila, the taskbar is suddenly available

Well, siria, I tried your revised macro, but this time I couldn't get the taskbar even with the resized window. I also tried your edit suggestions, but they didn't work, either. Nevertheless, toggling fullscreen is definitely a way of straightening things out, and I think I see a connection with something else I've noticed: Several of my apps will leave a thick border at the bo

Quotecallahan I have installed both a Firefox 31 user agent with XP and Windows 7. I still like XP to be getting hits at web sites ... there is no YouTube message with either user agent using KM now ... some may want to work with KM and Firefox 31 but I will post both user agents below. Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:31.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/31.0 Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:31.0) G

QuotesiriaI have the impression too that all this windowsize/taskbar/titlebar/fullscreen stuff seems to have some really weird random reactions, sometimes it works and other times not - drives me crazy! K-Meleon's weirdness is minor compared with that of Internet Explorer 9 , which I've stopped using altogether. K-Meleon seems pretty stable, and all the other features work as expected

Well, what you quoted by me was the case before I installed the macro. Looking at the JavaScript, I'm guessing you've reduced the height by 2 pixels. The script didn't automatically produce that margin, however. I still had to resize the window manually, even though that "disallow resize" setting for JavaScript was unchecked here. K-Meleon's window now reverts to

Quotesiria Okay, and here's the macro version, with a bonus command: Add "pseudo-maximized" size If you have time please test if that works for you? Thanks, siria! Yes, it works! It only requires a few pixels of space at the bottom, maybe 4 or 5, just enough to see the color of the desktop or other active program. Then I put the tabs above the toolbars again, and discove

Quotesiria Indeed... Confirmation on win98se with KM1.6  But only when the window is maximized. When I resize the window and leave one mm space at the bottom, the taskbar works again. When I switch the titlebar ON again, the taskbar works regardless if the window is maximized or not. Looks like a case for Dorian... Well, at least we're keeping him busy. Anyway, thanks for the

Quotesiria Because people still come looking in this old thread for workarounds: K-Meleon can hide the title bar without any additional stuff! This works at least since KM1.6, although only from a hidden pref. Not sure where the setting can be found in newer KM versions, but as always the hidden prefs still work: - Go to "about:config" - 2x click on "kmeleon.display.hide
