KM-MM8...
Posted by: MonkeeSage
Date: January 15, 2004 09:25AM

I made another build of KM-MM based on KM 8.2 (release) source and Mozilla 1.7a CVS (from two days ago). Includes an embed.jar w/ Marc's JS console fixes, and a fixed netError.xul (pressing enter works to retry). Includes Aggreg8 (thanks Andrew) and hacked Flashblock (thanks Marc). Also includes my old macro hacks (wait, autoload, stopautoload, nick and fileprompt commands), and added comparison operators ("<" and ">", e.g., "5 < 2" returns "0" for false).

I didn't have time to make an installer, tomorrow I'm going out of town for a week or so, so I just uploaded a zip file (aprox. 8 megs). As usual: unofficial (so don't ask for any features), unsupported (so don't report any problems), and I'm not a developer (so don't hold them responsible for my boo-boos if you find any). Other than that, have fun! smiling smiley

Ps. Individual plugins are at the usual place (but I won't have a chance to update the HTML until I get back).

Pss. I didn't get a chance to add Al's manifest file to the app resources yet, so you still need the external file with this build.

P.S., it would be nice to see a G7-SSE2 build too, just to see if it brings anything.
But I know I am asking much now ;-))))

I can't get it to work on my Win98 box. Error says missing msvcp70.dll and mfc70.dll

Did you unzip it into a new directory?
I just looked and found no mention of either msvcp70.dll or mfc70.dll.

Sounds like it was built with DotNet. You'll probably need the Framework installed to get things to run. Try here:

Actually I have the .NET framework installed under WindowsXP and those files are not part of it, they are in fact distributed as part of the .NET SDK, which is a software developers kit for .NET. It's available here:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=9B3A2CA6-3647-4070-9F41-A333C6B9181D&displaylang=en

Of course the bad news is it's 100megs+ so if you just need those two dll files then it's a waste of time. The good news however is both dll files can be downloaded from these links:

http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?msvcp70
http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?mfc70

on my win ME a third dll was missing:
msvcr70.dll
found at Al.´s suggested place under
http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?msvcr70

but I still have a problem. says the mfc70.dll downloaded from that place
is brocken somehow. downloaded it again. same result.
used ultimate zip for unzipping.
any suggestions?

Did you use the REGSVR32 command line to register the dlls with the system? If you're not sure how to use that command, or if you're like me and always after an easier way of doing things, then there is a program you can download which will handle it for you. Just download and use the program found on this page:

thx Al. I`ll use it. do it. try it.
Well normally I do not have to register *.dlls at all.-
I put a *.dll into the right path - that normally does it.
the MS fault-message was not very helpfull.
said in German: the mfc70.dll is faulty.
reinstall and restart the process. which i did twice. downloaded it twice, too.
before that it said: msvcr70.dll is missing, then mfc70.dll missing.
so I am halfway I guess. greetings

From what I recall...
There's a trimmed down version of oNET on MS's site somewhere.

I beleive it's only 1 Quarter the size.

And there should be a cut framework package made specifically for running THAT EXACT FILE somewhere.

Thanks,
JP

do You mean a runtime library collection by chance? MS has a big place, do You remember more ot any details.
got so far that "the fault" knows where it is on my PCs hdd, : (.
means system recognizes the dlls and where I have put the dlls in the path.
tried -> k-m folder, system and system32. K-M always finds the dlls but says mfc70 is faulty. is the a chance that mfc70 requires a certain version of another dll.
or is anything else known. thx. greetings

MS : So far so good , no crashes !

It's def. the smoothest version I've used of yours.

You need to make a list tho of what you have done to get to this point.

And a changelog to boot.

It's smooth yet "not spread out yet?" like paint when wet. smiling smiley

Actually there's no point asking Monkeesage any questions at the moment as he is out of town (which is what he stated in his first posting if you take a look).

Quote: I didn't have time to make an installer, tomorrow I'm going out of town for a week or so, so I just uploaded a zip file (aprox. 8 megs). hi Al.,
i am looking stupid again ;( after a crash, actually the same as I had with the normal roll of k-m 0.8.2 - I reinstalled. normal procedure / my (sages) trial roll of k-m does not work too good - mourrn - i did someting stupid).

standart prcedure. reinstall for inprovement.

"sages roll" reinstalled without forward and backward , but otherwise behaves fine.
any suggestions? i humbly admit: that i neglected to make a backup of the otherwise fine install. i tried reinstall from scratch several times, afterwards).

& do not be so hard "sages" time of return ; ) -> he anounced it on the 15th "he will go for a week" - we have the 20th (almost the 21st - i am at central european) - depending on his time zone - he will be almost at home.

question -> is anything known about ultimate zip. are there any "unpacking faults that are known" that have possibly an influence on/with my problem?.

forum is a big place - just in case You know. if not do not bother.....
else - I unpack after downloading any unzip i know of .
the question is just in case You have heard of a more elegant, less "downloading" time consuming way. thx.- just in case.

if do not -> i will wait to that day the "sage" returns - and ask the "sage" a "hole into his belly" (german idiom) - greetings from hanover / cebit town and so. greetings guenter

Did you just reinstall over the top? What you should always do before reinstalling is uninstall K-Meleon (backup your profiles etc.), delete the folder and then reinstall.

hi Al. thx. for reminding me.
nope, i did not - i deleted the folder
- after saving my precious dlls you located for me ; )
Now - 8.a.m. central european i tried again.
installed the sages brew 3 times in a row.
the third time every thing worked. ->so far smiling smiley)
but i do not know why : (
the only thing i did differently with the success was:
that I clicked yes on every item offered
- even the ones i did not want.
but that can not be the reason, can it?

that was just unfair
- I want a new unzip program - or
crash my browser or kick my pc ; ) something like that anyway.

I still have to go to my usual place to test - whether the install is stable.
the place where i crashed my first km0.8.2-1.7b and my first km0.8.2 too. ; (
greetings & thx.

Like I was saying someone try a conversion MMBrew+HouseBrew=Baby

WITHOUT making ANY mods to the packs.

And then later do one with some mods of your own...
