I've been using proxomitron on XP for years now, works just fine. No idea about vista/win7 though, nor if 64bit systems might be problematic.

I want the 1.9x GRE for the massive javascript speed increase (all prior versions of the gecko engine have been the slowest F~ing things on the planet!! A fact that becomes more & more aggravating on a daily basis, with so many sites using javascript more & more (stupid AJAX). KM's extremely slow js, due to it's outdated GRE, has been making me seriously consider switching to FF

IE on windows that has issues with the embed tag (then again, IE has issues with anything that isn't owned by MS). The object tag is the preferred method for IE browsers & the embed tag is the preferred method for all other browsers (and the currently accepted "proper" way is to put an embed tag within an object tag, letting IE read the object tag & other browsers read the

Unless you've discovered something that I've been searching for for a long time, there's no mplayer plugin for windows based browsers. I suspect that what you're using is the VLC plugin. It also plays nearly any video format, but the browser plugin version has no player controls or access to menus/filters/settings/etc, and it always freezes or crashes your browser if you try t

FFv3 (GRE 19.x) already supports html5 (not fully, but then again I don't think any browser fully supports html4 either, maybe not even 1, 2, or 3 for that matter). Seamonkey v2 also usues GRE 1.9x, so once KM switches over to the new GRE it'll support html5 too.

Have you tried going to the program directly instead of via the shortcuts? (Maybe someone was messing with you & changed the shortcuts.) Unless you chose some other place to install it, it should be in C:\Program Files\k-meleon\ Also, open task manager (hit ctrl+alt+del ONCE) and see if there's already an instance of KM running. I get that sometimes, KM doesn't close properly &am

I remember a lot of discussion in the past about large bookmark files (although those were about filesize, not numbers). Have you tried putting them in subfolders, maybe that will increase the effective limit? (I've never had enough bookmarks to run into a problem like this, so I'm just making guesses here.) Also, as guenter said, you can use the opera style hotlist (you don'

Try going into about:config, or editing the prefs.js file & change the prefetch option to "false". Whenever prefetch is turned on, you can watch KM's memory consumption skyrocket & continue to climb endlessly. Unfortunately, due to the nature of prefetching, it's difficult to tell if it's merely prefetching as it';s supposed to, or if it's the result of

I've patched uxtheme.dll on several different computers, and never had a problem with KM as a result. I think either something went wrong with your patching, or you have some other problem.

You mean "native" as in native english speaker? *points to self* Also, the fact that this was the guy's only post (click his nick in the first post & it'll show you how many posts he has), combined with the already suspicous nature of his post makes it even more suspicious.

I spot spam. The first post in this thread is just a semi-clever attempt to get people to go to his site by pretending he's making a legitimate post.

So... This doesn't actually capture the page as KM renders it, but renders it with IE's engine instead? That defeats the purpose. The point of taking any kind of screenshot of a page is to show someone what you see. Since IE is total crap & renders pages differently than any real browser, taking a shot of it's rendering of a page would be pointless.

Couple questions: 1) Does it capture the whole page, or just the part displayed in the browser? If it captures the entire page, then it could be very nice indeed. (Some screencap progs can autoscroll IE to get the whole page, but none seem able to do that with any other browser.) 2) One thing that doesn't sound so good about it is using jpg format. Most pages are better saved in a lossle

Very strange. Does it do it if you put www. in front of it (www.speigel.de)? Try tapping your ctrl, alt, and shift keys a few times (both the left & right ones), perhaps one of them is "stuck", and is sending some strange hotkey signal when you try to type the "s".

Bah, silvercrap. No wonder you're having problems. WhyTF can't M$ quit trying to force their own propoetary versions of standardized stuff on everyone?? We don't need silverlight when we already have flash & we don't need .net when we already have java. Are you looking specifically for online versions of "real" stations, or are you just looking for streami

You might have noscript installed/enabled (things like this are why I refuse to bother with noscript. It's nice in theory, but it practice there are so many sites which require js, that it's just not worth the trouble of adding them all to the whitelist). To check for flash, go here: http://browserspy.dk/flash.php To check for javascript, go here: http://browserspy.dk/javascript.php

Hmm... the player on that site isn't loading at all for me right now. What kind of error are you getting with the players, and what kind of link are you trying to use in them? Keep in mind that players only play audio, video, and playlists, not flash/swf files. As far as codecs/formats, vlc plays just about every known format, without needing any other codecs or files. If vlc can't p

Those dlls have nothing to do with using the players seperately, they're for using the players within KM (as plugins). Keep in mind that KM can access plugins that aren't in it's folder. If you go to about:config & search for "scan", you'll see that KM auto-locates wmp, quicktime, java, and acrobat, and finds them in their own folders. When you're listening

1) You can set KM's disk cache to a larger size, this may or may not help with the streams buffering. 2) Exactly how are you listening to the streams within your browser? Are they flash players, or are you playing them through a browser plugin such as quicktime or windows media? (...And in the last case, which player?) If you are playing them through a plugin, you'll need to adjust

Ya, I know there isn't a lot of speed diff between gre 1.8x & 1.9x, but as I understand it you have to use 1.9x in order to use the new js engine. I wind up frequenting some pretty js heavy sites, and the current(old) js engine is extremely slow. I have tried the same sites with a browser that uses gre 1.9x & the new js engine, and they work about a dozen times faster. I would be

Sounds like I should keep an eye on dorian's 1.6 ver. What I really want is the same browser I currently have (same layout, settings, functions, etc), but faster. Ideally I'd also like one with tabs instead of layers (so I could do things like rearrange layers/tabs by dragging), but the last time I looked for tabbed versions of KM, they were only available in zero-xul versions. 1) I know that hao's versions use the lua system, and from what I've seen here on the forums ever since lua was first used in KM, all newer versions of KM use lua. You're saying that dorian's & fred's don't use lua? 2) Oh yeah, that toolband pref. I knew there was some option for that somewhere, but I've been avoiding new versions of KM for so long that I

Is there a GRE 1.9 compatible version of KM with the old macro system instead of the new lua crap? The massive hassle of converting all my macros, accelerators, menus, & the like to the new system is why I'm still using KM 1.02. I'd really like a faster rendering engine & javascript engine though, like the one in ff3 & the most recent seamonkey. On a related note, are t

Interesting.... ..and here I had just come here today to see if there was any mention of any test builds of KM being made using code from FF3, or at least the new javascript engine (which is insanely fast). I wonder if it would be possible to take the javascript engine files from an install of ff3 or sm2 & drop them into an installation of KM? Probably not (things are never that simple),

Already read that ctrl+s thread ages ago, and it didn't help. I figured out the backspace one on my own, but can't find the solution to the problem mentioned in that thread, the fact that using that setting makes you go a back a page, even when you're trying to deleted characters in the URL bar or a web form. I don't understand why this is so problematic in the new version

I have a couple other installations of KM, and they both work fine. After some tinkering, it appears that my "key3.db" file somehow got corrupted. While the size was still an exact match for the copies in the other installations, copying one of the other ones over to replace that one seems to have cleared up the problem. Usually when a file gets corrupted in a situation like this, it s

How can I get alt+s to submit forms in KM 1.1.3? I looked in the accel.cfg file, and it isn't listed as a shortcut for anything, but it still doesn't work to submit forms as it should. Also, how do I set it so that the backspace key will go back 1 page?

I'm not 100% certain if the browser caches all video files, but it definitely caches FLV/flash video files (which is what nearly all the video sites use), it also caches MP3 files. It uses plugins to -render- the files, but the browser itself caches them. The maximum size of any individual cached item in KM is 31.9megs. It makes no difference at all what site I go to. KM completely caches

Checking here first, although I'm pretty sure I'll have to bring it up in mozilla's forums. The cache is a function of the gecko GRE, and problems with the cache are problems with the GRE, right? I'm trying to figure out why KM won't create single files in the cache that are larger than 31.9Mb (nor even split larger files into multiple cache files), and if there's
