No XP here. Wondering though what advantage an outdated PaleMoon (NewMoon) can offer over the original, which is actual and still maintained, namely Firefox ESR. While K-Meleon which is also a fork, comes whith a lot of conveniences compared to Firefox, I couldn't notice any convenience offered by PaleMoon (except maybe for the old squared style instead of the roundish one). As for being

Does it help if you set in "about:config": "clipboard.autocopy" (without the quotes) from false to true? "dom.event.clipboardevents.enabled" is already set to true in the default configuration.

Quotesiria Prob is, in the Mozilla engines of FF+KM etc. there are are TONS of different prefs influencing video stuff. Mostly hidden ones, accessible only via "about:config", and a few not even showing up there! And some even influence each other. Several dozens, it's a real JUNGLE, Mozilla seems to want to make it as hard as any possible for users to choose stuff as simple as &

Before this thread becomes the longest and also most senseless one on these forums As Siria already mentioned, the UA is only a text string sent to the server you are connecting with. The UA has absolutely no impact on such tests! A text string can't influence the way a browser engine is working. The points you'll get are depending on how the browser is dealing with the code it g

QuoteJ.G. 1) Edge, Chrome and Firefox don't allow Java, and very soon they won't allow no plugins at all. Add Safari to the list and you'll get all browsers still maintained / in development one can choose from. Keep in mind that all oher browsers are basically only shells for the above browser engines. QuoteJ.G. 2) People need plugins. Yes, they need them to work, to pla

Quotefoliator If I set media.mediasource.enabled to true, all the formats are checked as enabled on youtube.com/html5. If I disable it, of course, YouTube shows checkmarks in the top three items, but the bottom three relating to media source extensions are unchecked. YT videos play fine whether that setting is enabled or disabled. However, I generally leave it disabled, because it makes a bi

Quoteguenter The problem is that under XP the engine used by FF and KM cannot work for some media types. So it does not work like on Vista or Win 7. It is by design since Mozilla wanted to evade the licence fees for the codecs. Mozilla is open source. H.264 is proprietary. Both Google and Microsoft are co-owners. No other browser vendor can afford to implement into its browser, code

Quotesiria https://www.youtube.com/v/tvyjZIDuzEM Always thought such links show flash, but now not so sure anymore, It's flash. Plays fine with KM76RC2 on Win7. Quotesiria https://www.youtube.com/v/MePaWG7g5FA No workaround for that yet This one would play also fine (for me at least) if the content weren't restricted. However YT offers another link (webm instead of fl

@Dee V If I check KM76RC2 on youtube.com/html5 it tells me that all media types are supported. See screenshot. I see now that you are on WinXP. Since WinXP has no native support for H.264, you'll have to google for a solution. I can't help since I'm on Win7. All other media types should work for WinXP by default. My settings in "about:config" media.mediasource

Quotesiria Of course, being Mozilla, a hidden pref. And top-secret, it doesn't even show up in about:config it seems, users have to unhide it themselves plugin.load_flash_only (BOOL) false=load ALL Gecko has more than this one hidden pref. It could be even worse like it is in other browsers. You don't have any hidden pref. The setting is hardcoded. In FirefoxESR 52.2.1 &quo

Quotecallahan I am not sure I understand about Youtube videos not playing. I'm afraid you didn't. Youtube doesn't serve flash content anymore but only HTML5. The only issue I noticed with HTML5: As long as the video is encoded with H.264 the quality is par (or could be even better) compared to flash. If the video is encoded with VP8 or VP9 quality is lower. Keep in mind that

Thanks JamesD! By disabling layers.acceleration (enabled by default) did the trick. Now the SVG-file loads fast and renders fine in K-Meleon (tested only with KM76RC2). With newer Geckos the SVG-file loads fast and renders fine on the same OS (Win7) with layers.acceleration left with the default setting (enabled).

@gordon451 Thanks for testing. So it's not my OS (Win7 x64/SP1) but Gecko 38 (and earlier Geckos, for me at least). However, newer Geckos load the SVG-file instantly for me and also render it correct. Quotegordon451 BUT... Back on topic I'll go with JohnHell, yr.no is a very poorly written site, and it does seem that KM is unwilling to forgive this. I'm not sure if th

QuoteJohnHell I won't say is your system, but NOW it is weird If anyone wants to test it, go for it. Thanks for testing! I'm clueless now. It could be my system as well, for whatever reason. There are some Win7 users on these forums. It would be indeed interesting to know how the SVG-file displays in K-Meleon on their operating systems.

QuoteJohnHell Might be a regression in Gecko 38. Except for some details in the king face, there isn't much difference. That's weird. I've downloaded K-Meleon 75.0 based on Gecko 31. Didn't touch any setting and opened the link for the SVG-file. I get the poorly rendered SVG as shown in my screenshot above but not the one your screenshot shows. Additionally I&

I'm afraid that in this case it is Mozilla to blame. Even ancient Opera Presto v12 (released in 2009) is displaying the page fine. However, meanwhile Mozilla has fixed the issue. - Speaking of SVG files Try to open this SVG-file with K-Meleon based on FirefoxESR 38 and see what you get. Newer FirefoxESR have improved and are displaying the SVG-file fine. Ancient Opera Presto v12 disp

It's not a scripting issue but a CSS one as mentioned already by JohnHell. You could convince yourself by grabbing your Vista and by testing with an actual FirefoxESR. If you select the problematic part and click on "View selection source", it will point you to the CSS which old Gecko has problems to interpret. Probably some CSS rule old Gecko doesn't understand. BTW, the

Quotegordon451 Pale Moon displays it well, as does IE11. So does latest FirefoxESR I have tested with. Quotegordon451KM is fault-intolerant, and will break any poorly assembled site. I'm afraid it's not that Gecko is fault intolerant but K-Meleon based on Firefox 38 is for some pages a little bit outdated.

That's how it displays with K-Meleon 76RC here. As you can notice it's slightly different from what you are getting. As for the landing page, I get no warning. The page displays as shown in the screenshot below. Latest FirefoxESR I have also tested with, displays both pages correct.

AFAIK "Goanna" is itself a fork of Mozilla's Gecko. Maintaining and developing broswer engines (layout + ECMAScript) is a tremendous work. Since Google seized the browser market it became even much harder. You'll need many full-time job programmers to get at least a theoretical chance. No wonder that even a company like "Opera" couldn't keep up and resigne

Quotewsurfer0 Thanks, but that part of Preferences looks a bit different here: You can delete the second entry. Search strings won't work for Web Search. You can also delete the third entry because it's a duplicate. You can delete or add new entries by clicking the respective arrows. Now if you do a Web Search, the context menu should look like this: The search button isn

@wsurfer0 You have to set up first some search engines you want to use with Web Search. (Yours is so far empty.) Those search engines will show up in the context menu and you can click on the one you want to search with.

QuoteguenterMaybe codec missing? It's HTML5. At least that's what the link provided by Mala gives. If you look at the source of the site there is another link with the swf (flv) flavor: http://www.dailymotion.com/swf/video/xjnryl This one plays also fine in K-Meleon 76RC, assuming that you have the flash plugin. Besides, this link neither requires cookies to be enabled nor does

I've tested with default settings, something I'd advise everyone to do if something doesn't work. My prefs in "about:config" are tailored for my own needs and will break some sites.
