Quoteroytam1for github/gitlab, you'll need https://github.com/JustOff/github-wc-polyfill for UXP-based browsers. Thanks for that! I just installed the extension, and this is the first time that github has worked properly for me on Pale Moon. It used to let me log in, but the dropdown list for my account wouldn't work, so I had to disable CSS to find the URLs for logging in and out. The

QuoteJ.G. Quotefoliator It didn't help, J.G., but thanks very much for your efforts in trying to solve the problem. (...) Sorry about that. I wonder if Thunderbird can be used meanwhile, waiting for some fix for KMeleon Goanna. ¬_¬ Well, Gmail works most of the time, so I'll just keep using it with KM. I now go to Gmail right after starting the browser, because I'm more likel

QuoteJ.G. Dear Gerry, I have worked on this for several hours and I finally solved the issue with Google images search: create new string general.useragent.override.google.YOURCOUNTRYHERE (e.g. general.useragent.override.google.es) Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:45.9) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/45.9 I hope this fact will help you in some way to solve your needs, thanks. It looks like I spoke too soon, J.G., because I'm getting those "browser may not be secure" messages from Gmail again. Based on earlier problems I've had with Google on other browsers, including their own, it isn't necessarily the browser's fault; Google is at least partly to blame.

QuoteJ.G. Hi, the line below should be enough, because the other line is still applied in latest version: general.useragent.override.google.com = Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:48.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/48.0 QuotefoliatorThanks. Since I have only a 32-bit machine, I could probably omit the WOW64 specification, but I suppose it doesn't matter one way or the other. Actually, it

Regarding browsers that break various websites, I've found that the last Gecko version of KM kept reporting invalid certificates on many of the sites I visited frequently, most notably my online banking site and Gmail, which are very secure. The latest Goanna version of KM does not break a single site that I visit. Actually, neither does TheWorld 7, which is based on an ancient version of Ch

I think I may have figured out what causes the behavior I described above: My habit of double-clicking tabs to close them. I've started using a keyboard accelerator, instead, and the bug hasn't shown up so far.

I've discovered a much simpler way to get the full bookmarks menu instead of just "Add" and "Edit": Go to "Edit", drag all items, including the folders, from the Bookmarks Toolbar subfolder up under "All Bookmarks". I was even able to delete "Bookmarks Toolbar" altogether. The bookmarks will still appear on the toolbar if it isn't hidden

I'm using K-Meleon/76.4.5 Goanna on Windows 7, and am seeing some odd behavior: Once in a while after I close a tab the program stops responding to the mouse. I can fix that in either of two ways: (1) By double-clicking on the page (not on a tab), which for some unknown reason also opens a blank tab at the same time, or (2) by briefly minimizing KM to the desktop, which I can toggle with a

QuoteJ.G. Quotefoliator @roytam1, I was not able to log in to Gmail until I changed the user agents for both google.com and mail.google.com listed in about:config. Here is what worked, based on an earlier suggestion by someone else: general.useragent.override.google.com;Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:48.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/48.0 general.useragent.override.mail.google.com;Mozilla/5.

QuoteJohnHell Nice!... what is, after all, the method you suggested on that thread I use that method, but I use the bar too (as back old Netscape 4.x times). I understand what you meant with the toolbar mess. I tried, yesterday, at night, the suggested method on that thread and didn't work then, but now did. Anyway, is handy to make a backup ALWAYS Well, yesterday I tried that simp

QuoteJohnHell No clue. If you were able to do it, try to find some old backup, if you keep them. The only way I know myself is to enable the bookmarks toolbar and then, yes, from its icon, left-click shows the bookmarks, but on toolbar... toolbar buttons are a command and then a menu reference: command|menu http://kmeleonbrowser.org/wiki/ConfigFiles#toolbars Thanks! Quoteanonymous OFF TOPIC @foliator ... Thanks, I've found a solution in that six-year-old thread, and it turned out that it was my own post! If I shrink the bookmarks bar until only the bookmark button shows, that button will open the bookmarks menu with a left click. The icon isn't very recognizable, but I don't care about that, as long as I know what the button does. This all

QuoteJohnHell I see, you can always try/use an older build. Some builds include regressions on newer versions. Quotefoliator because email and banking are my top priorities on the internet. I know it is off-topic, but, with mail, you can try a mail client and forget about headaches of browser compatibility with web interfaces by using mature protocols as IMAP (it took almost 20 years to mak

I've been trying the latest build of KM on Goanna, and have the following problem: When I bring up Gmail's sign-in form and type in my user name, nothing happens. Pressing Enter doesn't bring me to the next step (password entry), nor does clicking the Next button. If I try that, the form is reloaded and the box with my user name is cleared. As far as I know, submitting this form

Thanks, Panzer. I've used ad blockers in the past. Some sites used to scold me for that, or wouldn't let me in at all. At any rate, I don't watch YouTube videos anymore. The only reason I noticed the increase in ads was by visiting YouTube out of curiosity to see if TW7 could play any of the videos; it can play some of them, despite being way out of date. I'm not very fond

Yes, I guess there's quite a bit of censoring going on, but plenty of misinformation as well. It's certainly not the same internet that I found so exciting back in 1994, when I first started using it. The web showed enormous potential. It has grown tremendously since then, but that so-called "internet superhighway" now has an awful lot of speed bumps in the form of heavy ads,

Since I'm retired, I always have too much time on my hands these days, so the Covid restrictions haven't changed my activities very much. One of my hobbies is shortwave listening, an interest I've had since my early teens. Shortwave radio receivers have improved since then, and some are quite reasonable in price. Another of my pastimes is music composition, although that has slo

I used to look up the user agent for the most recent version of Chrome and spoof that in an older version, but Google's search pages still gave me those update reminders. That's why I no longer bother spoofing user agents at all. So far, Google's search pages aren't bothering me with reminders, even with TheWorld7, which identifies itself as Chrome 48. Quotesiria By the way the cropped date is completely flexible, 1-8 digits, year+month is just an example. That's usually all I can remember about the dates, anyway. As for the month, I tend to use May or June to stay away from last minute changes to a site at the end or beginning of the month. By the way, I was wrongly assuming that TheWorld was too old to be used on YouTube, since the

@siria: Using your info, I've created a workaround by writing a little local HTML file on my hard drive that has the content below. Note that the body text of that file can be edited right in the browser without the need for an HTML editor. Once I've completed the Wayback Machine search URL, I simply drag it right into the browser's address bar. Don't try to follow the live l

Hi, folks! First of all, I apologize for posting a response to a very old thread (roughly 5 years old), but I had to stop using K-Meleon. The reason was that too many of the sites I visited on a regular basis had stopped supporting it. The latest Pale Moon version (29 point something) isn't much of a help, either, and I don't like what's happened to Firefox. At any rate, I have
