Update: Well, after nearly a month, there's another development: After adding all of my custom shortcuts to the default accel.cfg under \browser\defaults\settings, I thought I had found a workaround, until more of the shortcuts stopped working. I still can't figure out why this odd behavior suddenly showed up after two years of reliable performance from this version of K-Meleon. A

Quotefrom my previous post: Someday I'm bound to discover the cause quite by accident. Well, not quite; it seems I've discovered a workaround by accident instead of the cause: I tried adding those nonfunctional shortcuts to the default accel.cfg (browser\default\settings\accel.cfg) instead of the one in my profile, and they work now. :O I'm not worried about those changes affe

Quotesiria KM 1.6: 127/555 points (couldn't resist, LOL!) "you are using an unknown browser that imitates"... my fake. Try it with the UA of a recent Chrome version and see what happens. Maybe htmltest.com will give you 500 points. That site tells me "You are using Firefox 55.0 on Windows 7." That's what I have it set to in K-Meleon. I think Google do

Quotesiria No clue either, but sharing your first suspicion that it might have to do with your recent shortcut changes... Does the error console show anything interesting after startup? Did you restart the system again? And what happens when you start a complete, fresh unzipped portable version? The issue started long after I had made the last changes to my accel.cfg. The shortcuts had been wor

All websites I have visited worked well for me, so I can't understand what's going on here. Probably the UA requirements are important only if they set lower versions, because machines are u

Quoterodocop In russian OSes something like this happens with K-Meleon when the primary OS language is set to non-latin (cyrillic, russian - for example). Standard system-wide "Ctrl+...'-based shortcuts disappear in these cases (stop working and not showed in menus). Check your OS language settings (keyboard layouts etc.) They are set to U.S. English, and haven't been chang

I wonder what would happen if you gave it a Firefox version in the thousands, and perhaps an OS version of 13 or so. I still can't understand why that html5 test shows exactly the same values with or without HTML5 enabled in KM 75. Unless, of course, it's looking beyond my current settings to determine what this browser is actually capable of.

QuoteJ.G. @foliator, the HTLM5 test is very accurate, but I'm really very surprised about the results. :O Anyway, I am still asking myself about the advantages of using very recent UA strings, because the HTLM5 test results for KMeleon 76 are the same from FF 38 to FF 57 (Nightly Build). ¬_¬ The only reason I spoof recent UA strings is to prevent those irritating nags from various web

QuoteJamesDControl + t opens a new tab for me in KM 75. I think the problem must be unique to your setup. Ctrl T works for me, too, but the special (virtual) keys are what I meant. For example, for a couple of years now I had been using Ctrl + Down Arrow (CTRL VK_DOWN) to toggle the display of KM's status bar on and off. That no longer works. Same goes for Ctrl + Enter (CTRL VK_RETURN) an

Starting yesterday some of my accelerator keys in KM have stopped working. Specifically, the Ctrl key no longer works in combination with special keys, such as VK_DOWN, VK_RETURN or VK_F10. The Alt key still works with the special keys; the issue only seems to involve the Ctrl key, although that still works in combination with any of the alphanumeric keys. This only applies to K-Meleon. It doe

QuoteJ.G QuoteDee V oops. The browser is called "The World" I don't agree, Slimbrowser is better than The World by far. https://www.slimbrowser.net/ http://www.theworld.cn/twen/ The second link brings up a very early version of TheWorld, which -- like Slimbrowser -- uses the Trident rendering engine that's integrated in Windows. It's the same engine that IE uses.

Quotesiria Or calling the macro only manually, only when needed, not automatically after every page load ($OnLoad). The catch is that would of course require again a shortcut/menu/button, but if you don't mind that it's another possibility. In that case the toggle could be included. Hmmm ... I might try that later. It might also be necessary for the macro to force a reload of the YouT

QuoteJohnHell Quotefoliator Now I'm going to try inserting the HTML5 Disabled statements at the very top of the download macro; maybe it will disable HTML5 automatically prior to the download. Then I can always toggle HTML5 back on later. Emmmm, no, that won't work. Placing a toggle at the beginning of the macro will do nothing unless you invoke it. And the macro is just invoked o

OK, looks like I've answered my own question. I tried toggling HTML5 off just before clicking on the download link. It worked perfectly. Staying on the same video, I then toggled HTML5 back on and started the download again; as I expected, it opened in the HTML5 player. Now I'm going to try inserting the HTML5 Disabled statements at the very top of the download macro; maybe it

The macro works for me, too. However, while some of the videos download properly, others immediately start playing in the browser's HTML5 player instead of being downloaded, and I can't successfully save them that way. I generally leave HTML5 enabled; would it help if I disabled it for use with this macro? In that case, if the video opened in my offline media player I could save a copy

@siria: Well, this time I prefer to take the lazy way out and use an alternate browser for sites that don't work in KM. Another thing I've tried is a macro that opens the current URL in my alternate browser. I use a very long and complicated command line with Iron, not just the executable file. Those parameters are essential, however, so I wrote a batch file to start it with those pa

QuoteYogiKM has everything implemented what Mozilla's Gecko engine on which it is based, has. Keep in mind that KM 75 is based on Firefox ESR 31. Actual Firefox ESR is 52.3. Yes, I realize that. This is why I keep an alternate browser on hand. KM 76rc has problems on my machine. KM 76 Pro fixes a few of them, but I've customized my current version very heavily, especially the toolbars

I've just created a simple macro that toggles the minimum font size preference between 0 and 19. It's for those many sites with tiny fonts, and is easier than having to constantly zoom up and down. MinimumFont{ togglepref(INT, "font.minimum-size.x-cyrillic", 19, 0); togglepref(INT, "font.minimum-size.x-unicode", 19, 0); togglepref(INT, "font.minimum-size.x

@guenter and rodocop: Good suggestions! The reason I used a 3rd-party app was that it was already on my hard drive, and I discovered accidentally that domain names could be passed to it via the command line. That made it possible to design a very simple macro, and also gave me some experience handling variables.

Here's a little macro I just created which will give you lots of details about the domain of a site you are viewing. It depends on a small (211 kb) freeware utility, Nir Sofer's DomainHostingView, which is available here: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/domain_hosting_view.html The program requires no installation; just locate the .EXE file in a folder of your choice. Quoterodocop I don't know if this would help, but just FYI: you can watch youtube videos on the http://jojoplay.com - they are shown there without ads (it seems so) and maybe they could be played smoother than on youtube (or maybe not). Thanks, rodocop. They come out the same on that site, so it's not the YouTube site, but the browser's video rendering that's at fault, wh
