Thanks, kko, for showing me the alternative to viewing the Cookies. As to favicons - at least on my system in order to display some favicons so that they will be stored in IconCache.dat, you have to go into about:config type favicon into the Filter so that it brings up the values: browser.chrome.favicons kmeleon.favicons.titleBar and default them to true. I have found that on some sites fav

Regretably, kko, some websites do not find the user agent strings as useless as you. There are still some that see K-M or Seamonkey for that matter and give you a message that you need to upgrade your browser. They won't even let you on the site. We've had this discussion before. As you point out, it is a very easy thing to add into about:config, but the point is, it is a lot easier to

The speed seems to be improved. I don't have a stop watch, it just seems to be faster in bringing up webpages. As desga2 brought out the startup does not work. Doesn't even bring up the readme.html. Proxy - you have to set it up under Edit-Preferences (and Save it), then you have to go over to Tools-Proxy- and check it off. Edit-Preferences-Privacy no longer allows you to see the Coo

Very nice adaptation. Very fast with flashblock on. However, with flash on, there are some glitches as it seems to interfere with clicking bookmarks and such - nothing that causes the browser to fail, just an irritation. Proxy works great - you can transfer your settings for passwords, bookmarks into the profile easily without breaking it. While you can copy bookmarks over to \prefs, iconcache.d

I see it also in KM 1.5beta. However, the time of day may be a factor when it gets busy - logging on may take a while.

Depending upon which K-M version you are using, make sure that the K-Meleon plugin for Bookmarks and Favorites is checked. Edit-Preferences-K-Meleon Plugins. Put a checkmark in the Bookmarks and/or Favorites; close down K-Meleon and then re-start it.

I have it working under XP SP3. Took Fred's advice about installing the C++ runtimes. Very fast browser. For some reason the favicons don't work very well. Either it does not retrieve the icon or if it does, does not save it to iconcache.dat. Some, when displayed are so dark that the icon cannot be seen. But, proxy works, tabs work (though they act more like layers). He has improved upo

@marabbeh - K-Meleon really doesn't "import" bookmarks. The reason is that mozilla browsers stash their bookmarks in too many places. However, you can copy bookmarks.html from one Mozilla browser to another. You need to know where your Firefox keeps its bookmarks.html. In General, it is kept in \Documents and Settings\"yourname"\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\defaul

@jps - Removing Firefox and reinstalling CCleaner will not cause CCleaner to default to K-Meleon. So, save yourself some time. As was indicated above, you can accomplish the same thing in K-Meleon by going to Tools-Privacy-ClearData.

@AAB This kind of thing usually happens when a Profile is corrupted. It can also happen when you have two different K-Meleon versions installed on the computer and their profiles are incompatible and both were installed as multi-user. Each time one is run, it "breaks" the other's profile. IF you have only one K-Meleon version installed and the profile keeps disappearing, then yo

You must have posted as I did. If Ctrl C (copy) and Ctrl V for paste doesn't work, use Windows Explorer, go to the place where Firefox stores bookmarks.html and right click on the bookmarks.html and choose Copy from the drop down menu. Then, go to where you've found the bookmarks.html for K-Meleon and right click in a blank space and choose Paste from the drop down menu. It should warn

Use Windows Explorer. Be sure that you have highlighted Local Disk (C). Then, click on the Search button. Then, the files and folders inpu boz, type in Bookmarks.html That will find where bookmarks are all over your hard drive. Within the directories will be at least one that says \K-Meleon\. That will be where you will need to copy your Firefox bookmarks.html to.

@Jack I do not have a copy of Vista, so I really don't know how it stores things. However, it it keeps to the NT,2000,XP ways of doing things, If you have installed Firefox "globally" or to be used by all users, bookmarks.html should be found in \Documents and Settings\"yourname"\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\default\funnynumber.slt\ Using Windows Explorer you can ma

For many extensions, use those that you find at Jujuland. In the case of Adblock Plus it is best to go here: http://adblockplus.org/en/kmeleon for the latest version. Download it, and when you unzip it, point it to the folder where k-meleon.exe is stored. When you start K-Meleon, it will ask you subscribe to one or another groups, just choose one. In the case of NoScript, go to Jujuland.

@Luys - Right click on the icon (wish I could make out what it is - looks squarish) that brings up options-preferences and at the General tab, be sure to uncheck Block Flash. Sometimes you have to close down K-M after doing this to get Flash to work. If Flash Block is unchecked and Youtube still does not come in then, because Youtube and other sites use Adobe Flash player (or Shockwave player), y

@Luys - Hao puts things in unusual places. 1. Copy your bookmarks.html found in your K-M 1.1.5 to \K-M CCFME\pref or if you used Hoa's default directory, it would be \K-MelionCCFMEO.09Beta1\pref then copy the IconCache.dat to \Profile\"number"\ 2. To get some pages to show correctly, you will have to uncheck the FlashBlock since many pages use flash.

@momotaro - Follow JamesD's excellent advice. In addition, since this brings up an instance of Windows Explorer, You will want to highlight both bookmarks.html and iconcache.dat together. Hold down the Ctrl key and press the C key to copy the files. Then, click on the Folder button to open the left panel of Windows Explorer and click into a folder where you want to store these two files. Cli

Do they? To me they look approximately the same as in SeaMonkey. The spacing between urls in the bookmark menus appear to be closer in K-M than in Firefox which makes the favicons look a little more bunched together. But, to tell the truth, it might just be a function of the resolution of my monitor, but the favicons look pretty much like those in SeaMonkey and Firefox.

@JamesD - perhaps since Dorian made this an install file rather than a zip file, it is possible that (if you are using more than one K-Meleon version) that inadvertantly the 1.5beta was installed as multi-user rather than installing it as a local (using profile.ini) It may be that 1.5b overwrote your K-M 1.1.4 or new 1.1.5 or even 1.5alpha version and there were files from the earlier K-M (found

Click on Edit-Preferences-K-Meleon Plugins and make sure that there is a check mark next to Netscape Bookmarks. If there is not a check mark, click in the box to put one there. Then, close down K-Meleon and bring it up again.

Thanks, Fred, should have mentioned about localization through the .ini file. That having been said, you can in fact have two instances of the 1.5 series running simultaneously. I can use both build 22 and build 23 simultaneously. Each is stored in its own subdirectory with its own profile. The trick is using the -new in running them from a shortcut: build 22 is invoked: "C:\Program Fil

Depending on what subdirectory you would have installed, for at least the 1.5 series your shortcut for starting it would be something like: "C:\Program Files\K-Meleon1.5a2\k-meleon.exe" -new

Hello guenter. Hope you are feeling better. Maria posted that you had a fall and were under the weather. Glad you are back. Yes, with less chrome it really runs fast. I could not be sure if it was Hao's program, Ad Block, or the Gecko engine itself, but a page like this http://www.click2houston.com/health/15651020/detail.html simply would not appear correctly. I did have to go into about:

Have looked at this 1.9 Gecko of Hao's. It took a while to get used to the layout. Things I liked: the speed - very fast especially when flash is blocked. memory usage - seems to be very low especially with multiple tabs opened Things that need work: Hard to tell since some of what may be a problem is that I am not familiar with Hoa's builds. There are some pages that do not sho

In the end, it may be easier to simply copy the bookmarks from Firefox to K-Meleon. Firefox usually stores its bookmarks.html in the following directory: Documents and Settings\yourname\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\default\funnynumber.slt\ Using Windows Explorer click through the folders, click on the file bookmarks.html and hold down Ctrl and click on the C button of your keyboard. People have differing philosophies about Ad-Blocking. Some want it in the browser; some like to keep it separate from the browser. I belong to the latter group. I use Ad Muncher which works for almost all browsers. Install it once; it will keep every browser on your machine free from adds.

On the Tech Support Alert page: http://www.techsupportalert.com/best_46_free_utilities.htm#1 KM was selected as one of the best browsers. Granted that it came in 5th, the author still had this to say: "...K-Meleon [5], a slimmed down cousin of Firefox that's optimized for Windows. Of the four browsers I use on different PCs, K-Meleon is the quickest loading and along with Opera, the

Thanks kko. Yes, I knew about the compact menu. I saw this configuration in TheWorld Browser and thought that it was a nice economical way of positioning the Menu out of the way on a line that Windows ordinarily uses as nothing but a border. Anyway, kko and Dorian, thank you for the effort. It says a lot that you consider this to be an alpha edition when it is so complete by anyone else's st

The preference enhancements in this build are really very nice. Especially love the favicons in the bookmarks now. Actually, I really liked build 22, but build 23 makes things much easier to use. The way proxies are now handled are superlative. The speed is excellent. I have one suggestion - and it is purely cosmetic. Would it be possible to move the Menu bar from being a tool bar and attach t
