@guest-here Yes, the "Hotlist" you refer to is really the Opera style bookmarks. Just go to Edit-Advanced Preferences and in the left pane under K-Meleon plugins, click on Opera Hotlist and remove the check mark which enables it. Press OK. Then, close down K-Meleon, then restart it. The "Hotlist" menu item will disappear. Unfortunately, you are correct that you will have t

Actually, setting up bookmarks is not really all that different from Seamonkey. However, since you like the way Seamonkey does it, K-M can use Seamonkey's bookmark file (bookmarks.html). So, you can set the bookmarks.html in Seamonkey and then copy the bookmarks.html to K-M. You don't want the two browsers to use the same file since K-M strips the bookmarks.html file of characters that

Try Edit-Advanced Preferences then click on IE Favorites under K-Meleon Plugins and put a check mark in Enable support for Internet Explorer. Close down K-Meleon. Start it up again; Favorites should appear as a menu choice.

@George - hate to hear that. I am using WIN XP2 also. The bookmarks in the menu disappeared on me when XP crashed. That's how I found it. You've probably taken these steps, but here goes anyway. Edit-Preferences-Plugins (left side) and make sure that Bitmapped Menus, Rebar Menu, Toolbar Control Plugin, and Netscape Bookmark plugins all have check marks in them. Then, Edit-Preferences-Ge

Mala Okeh - I used this patch from Microsoft for WMP: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=55219164-ec71-4a32-a648-4ed2582ebc7c&DisplayLang=en to get it to interact with KM. It works very well with 1.1RC2. Perhaps, you could try to patch WMP this way and you might not have to give up your ActiveX

The only real way to control cookies is with a separate program like cookie crusher or cookie pal since they can decipher a cookie's function on the fly allowing you to accept some kinds of cookies and rejecting others and keeping a database of your choices. As far as I know no browser is capable yet of doing this though K-Meleon gets high points for its handling of them.

A site may be using a Java script or macro which is not the same thing as Javascript. If you have a version of java installed on your computer, the website may have a small java applet it wants to run, and your java would kick in. However, if you don't have java installed, you would get this message or if you have unchecked the java choice under Preferences-General your browser would not res

Well, the difficulty with cookie management is that they have to be intercepted prior to the webpage's being displayed. In some cases this requires you to run a proxy or having a program running in the background. There are two programs that do this pretty successfully. Cookie Pal and Cookie Crusher. Both work with most Mozilla and IE based browsers. In other words, you run these programs in

Click on Edit-Advanced Preferences-Content Filters then put a check in the Enable Flashblock box. Close K-M then re-open.

@David - I went to the site. I presume what you feel is not running is the scrolling graphic. It worked fine for me. Flash player is now up to 9.0.28. It will install two new files that seem to supercede the old way of calling it: NPSWF32.dll and NPSWF32_FlashUtil.exe. You can get the install here: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash

As guenter points out you can eliminate many popups by checking the box under Preferences-Privacy. You can also go to Advanced-Preferences-Content Filters to put a checkmark in CSS and Flashblock. This will also eliminate some popups. With Flashblock you will have to restore Javascript by putting a checkmark there. There are many third party blockers that you can use. While K-M does support so

Sounds a bit like a skinning problem. Try going back to Phoenity of Klassic.

@Peabody - I can understand why FF would make backups of their bookmarks.html since they include addresses for favicons to be imbedded in their drop down menus. Actually, this is one of the most troublesome aspects of their bookmarks. K-M's are much simpler, and I have never seen them corrupted. Why don't you just create a batch file from Dos and have it backup your folder containing yo

@Dorian - thank you for your concern. This was an alpha build to use at our own risk. Actually, for an alpha, it works more like a finished product. In any respect, I found no problem with the way it was issued as an alpha build. Personally, I preferred it this way. Thanks for all your hard work.

Not sure if this is what you want. Since you don't like the things at all, I believe that you can do the following to eliminate these little help balloons by doing the following: 1.Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then press ENTER. 2.Navigate to the following subkey: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced 3.Right-click the right pane, cre

Nikelaos, I was able to go to the website. It attempted to set three types of cookies. Since I do not plan to go back, I rejected them, but it let me into the webpage and I entered one of the forums. You might look to see if your K-M has checkmarks in both the Java and Javascript entries (Edit-Preferences-General). If these are set, since I do not use the CSS or Flash blocking (Edit-General Prefe

felipe, in thinking about this (and you probably have already thought of it yourself) there are two possibilities. 1) Is it possible to set your W2K machine to local language English and try to install? 2) In the install procedure there seems to be a checksum operating - in English the separator usually is a comma (,) whereas in Spanish the separator ususally is a period (.) - so I wander if you

Sorry, felipe. I am using the English Win2000 not the Spanish. I understand your frustration. Again, apologies.

I agree with Carson that the word "fiasco" is a bit exaggerated, but I do not understand what felipe is referring to when he uses this in relation to Win2000. If this is in reference to Kmeleon 1.1a2 Gecko 1.8.1 not being able to be installed on the Win2000 operating system, that is not true. I am using Kmeleon 1.1a2 Gecko 1.8.1 on a Win2000 system to post this message. To marcopolo

One other anomalie - when I go to Preferences-General in the boxes that say Settings Folder and Plugins folder, these are blank, but the K-M runs fine anyway.

As I said, I had a problem "installing" it at first until I diaabled the Firewall and Spyware Terminator both of which interfere with installs since you are forced to give permission for processes they have not seen before. I will go through the process I used since these differences may have a bearing: I unzipped the download to a folder and then transferred the whole folder over to
