Hello JohnHell. I do not wish to bring friction between you and I, but from my perspective over decades in IT - I must present a different way to look at this... Fault & blame are unhelpful, in this I totally agree; What I suggest as a more correct situation is to examine choices vs. awareness. Then it all seems to become very much more obvious. Choices vs. awareness also easily ex

I posted this elsewhere before, just re-posting it here in case it might amuse anyone...and also because, as it explains here: http://www.thelinuxrain.com/articles/distro-wars-its-all-linux Its ALL Linux !! ********************* As the posting title says=> Linux is already dominant; Android did this for us. As such (IMO) mikr0$0ft has not only lost the 'OS wars' - but has a

Sorry about messing up the thread title Siria !! You said: "(just a bit complicated for less savvy ones, sigh)" That statement is sort of missing the beauty of Ubuntu. Really, seriously - getting into it is really quite easy because of 2 things, primarily=> - The ease of software installation in that distro; - The amazingly huge userbase that is great for getting help, wh

This reply is a couple of responses in one=> My guess is that Foliator is saying it is a fight with win-doze itself; a fight that most folks have lost at - for around 20 years already. Yogi makes some truly great and wise points in reply; I add my 2.5 cents here: The ONLY win that is possible is refusing to fight a'tall. Panzer posted a link to a wonderful write-up in his freewa

I say to Foliator and anyone else feeling 'stuck': Quotefoliator...In order to downgrade a new Windows 10 machine, I'd have to purchase a copy of Windows 7. Even if I could find a legal copy at a reasonable price, it wouldn't surprise me if Windows 10 prevented me from downgrading successfully. I did a quick search at amazon and there are w7 offerings as low as $15 there...

Update: I literally have ZERO clue how this happened, but=> In preferences, images got set to 'off' !!! How could something change this without me knowing about it ?!? I haven't visited the prefs AT ALL since setting up this browser & it was fine all the time since, then, just...changed. Very strange.

I have become quite accustomed to using K-Meleon 75.1 Pro for many things each day. It has been very satisfactory in most ways and in other ways that it is not quite perfect it is easy enough to just use another of my many browsers. Then something happened...what, I have no idea...? Sites which have always rendered perfectly suddenly got strange, in place of their normal images there are n

I know I said this in reply before, but I am going to say it again here: Panzer, your freeware list posts are incredible, amazing & HUGELY appreciated !!! In addition I wish to add that Panzer's recent postings have highlighted a wonderful development for us Linux users=> distro agnostic apps. These are the specific things I am referring to that Panzer has provided lately: h

Very cool topic - thanks for posting it !!! I'm sort of an OS junkie - or even maybe sort of an OS 'mechanic' after tweaking up so many for all the decades since before PCs arrived ?!? The past answers from me, 1st: My all-time favourite thus far was win2kpro - nothing has ever been more acceptable as a reliable & stable mainstream platform IMO; before that it was NT4 fo

Interesting question which I've never thought to ask... The freeware stickies are wonderful IMO - they point me to interesting, mind expanding sites with things I otherwise would not know about - and even once in a while I will grab what is offered and give it a spin, always using Uninstal Tool to monitor anything that MUST be installed so as to be able to completely remove it if it is no

Too much time spent by too many using browsers these days - more than any other type of app: Browsers turning into lobotomized chrome-zombies all around. When that final nail is driven and ALL there is to use are chrome-zombies, it will be time for me to cease internet usage. "Chrome is for bike fenders, NOT browsers."

Yes - having things work-alike DOES become important when one is using multiple browsers and switching back and forth during the course of one's days !! The biggies are when I go to load a YT URL and get the message 'an error occurred' - and reload that same one just to have it work - and sometimes then quit 1/2 way through, and sometimes be fine; Worse still, page loads that j

Indeed it is, yes: QuoterodocopAnd sure Paste&Go is present in KM Pro out of the box! And you can combine all buttons you need in 1 toolbar of text-labeled ones. It needs some editing of configs but you have possibility. You can. If you prefer stability over eye-candy I can suggest you are could use XP or classic theme in more recent Windows - if so I can offer you an addon to KM whic

Thanks for your very kind reply Rodocop. I really have put alot of time & effort into making K-Meleon my default browser of choice, but it just isn't happening yet. Thanks Again for replying Rodocop. Thanks also to you, JamesD. (Side note=> I am not presently using any of the releases straight from this site - only those I've mentioned previously in this thread.) Now I may be full of baloney here, but it seems to me that IF my PC or OS was so badly messed up that it ONLY shows problems when using certain browsers - that my system would not also

Thanks for replying Rodocop. Another example... I had maybe 6 URLs that will not open properly in 1.02 - so I opened 75.1 Pro, and=> It crashed...and crashed...and crashed. Thanks for replying Rodocop !! I had not seen or found that addon by adodupan yet - thanks for pointing it out. Does this mean...?: QuoteTo install it you should have kmeleon.install_firefox_extension pref set to false. After that you can install it just like firefox-addons by clicking the link to XPI-file. Change that setting, then change it back afterwards ?? I also see where he is off

Really - truly - seriously... I tried making V75.1 my full-time browser, but it just cannot do too many things that I've gotten spoiled to having right at hand all the time. But what I've started doing in my daily routines even strikes me as being funny=> => After checking & sanitizing my emails I use Pocket K-Meleon V1.02 to check in at some sites that are important to

Thanks Rodocop. Yes, and yes: Quoterodocopwhen you've run KM Pro for the 1st time - it asked you 2 questions about new finded plugins. Have youy answered 'yes' 2 times? Also: QuoterodocopYou should have only 3 off by default: IE Favs, Mouse Gestures and Opera Hotlist. Have double-checked and these are all correct too.

Thanks for the replies Folks. I am trying to make this work in K-Meleon 75.1 Pro, and it is not working as it should. In my other versions here it does, yes: QuoterodocopYes, it works so from even 1.x-branches. But not in this one. Yes - this is exactly what I am hoping it would do: QuoteJohnHellRight click it. If instead left click, you right click, it will open in a new tab/window. I

Hello Folks. One thing I am really missing in using this browser daily is the ability to open a site from a bookmark in a new tab. Since my browsing style has me going back and forth between tabs, this ability is very important for getting new information while keeping the rest of the tabs open as they are. Is there any way to get the bookmarks menu to work with right-clicks so that this m

Thanks Guenter & JujuLand. I will welcome ReactOS whenever it becomes a bit more mature. Their community edition site & successful funding campaign look very exciting actually - and w03 is a good target level as well. It will be fantastic if their development speeds up as a result of all that. As to all the flavours of win-doze...: If it had been a bit more compatible with newer h/

I am familiar with ReactOS - it is a great idea, but not mature enough to use as a daily, main OS. Does the below refer to ReactOS - and was it supposed to say 'target' rather than 'tarjet' ??: QuotejonaspmAlso, the tarjet OS is moving to Windows Vista, but they'll certianly change fast to Windows 7. I am just trying to comprehend what that may mean - does it refer

So here goes - making another new posting... At the top there is a checkbox for 'follow topic', which seems a good idea to use. BUT: There is no good or correct answer to getting notifications from this forum, it seems. Once checked, and the post submitted - when one looks at the subscribed posts list that new posting -may- even appear, but will have the 'email' drop
